I use Race Render Pro to overlay the data.
Seems like this is software... what hardware was used? Go Pro? Any additional hardware needed to capture the GPS data? Phone? OBD 2 Reader? I'm not 100% clear.
I use a Roadhawk HD dashcam, this captures GPS data by default. Race Render is able to extract this GPS data from the video stream and build an onscreen map.

I do believe some / all GoPro also capture GPS data.

Arrow Stelvio Blitzers...

mjn77 I just happened to drive the Stelvio Pass the week or so after your European Tour with your GF. I had my eye out for Blitzers in the Stelvio are and found some. I also asked my friend's at Hotel Perego if they had heard of any mobile Blitzers on the Pass. They said only sometimes Carabinieri will lay in wait - but even that is quite rare. One reason why I really like driving in Italy vs say Switzerland.

I did see three Blitzers on the North side of the Pass - as I drove in the direction of Merano from the top of Stelvio. You have to go thru Trafoi, then after that is the old WWI fortress... there you will find a Blitzer.

And then further down the road somewhere around here: Hotel Zentral...
Hauptstraße, 39026 Prad am Stilfserjoch, Bozen, Italy

and then one opposite the Esso gas station here...
Via Principale, 6, 39026 Prato Allo Stelvio BZ, Italy

On previous trips to Stelvio - I had only remembered a permanent Blitzer (camera high up on a pole) near some farm fields. On the SP50 near this village: Lichtenberg Montechiaro

Here are a few pics of my little weekend trip... I drove from Switzerland to Stelvio and then Sella and then thru the Grossglockner on back thru Kitzbuhel Austria and then back into Germany. Dackel

Yeah, think it might have been the first one you mentioned. All been quiet so far, but still 49 weeks for them to send her something.

Don't suppose you can remember what the limit was?

It was all 50 kph in those areas.

FYI... my neighbor told me a story... he got a parking ticket one year and three days after he had visited Pisa many years ago. He could have fought it but it wasn't worth it. He just paid the 60 euro fine. So even though the Italians have a year... they sometimes aren't so quick to mail out their violations like the Germans or the Swiss. lol

take care buddy.

Before you take your next tour over the chunnel... perhaps you might want to pay 10 euros for this scdb POI database...

Yup, we used Snooper, but as soon as you're off the main roads and on the little minor roads, the results can be hit and miss.

I'm not really into coolers. The German's hardly know what ice cubes are! lol The only place I have seen in Germany that sells bags of ice cubes are Esso gas stations and REWE(a grocery chain). I guess you could bring those bricks that you can freeze to stay cold in a "soft" cooler.

When I travel, I usually just bring some water and drinks with me(bought from Lidl or a grocery store like REAL or EDEKA). Maybe some snacks. But most of the time its just water and a meal when I get hungry and stop somewhere. Unless I am traveling in Switzerland... then I bring some food. lol $$$

For me part of the "fun" when traveling is going shopping for snacks/food when I am in Italy or where ever. Its fun finding new stuff in new lands.

We take a cooler or two and half fill with reuseable ice blocks.

We tend to buy meats and cheese for lunches and then have evening meal at restaurants. Coolers are good for keeping drinks in as well and chocolate

Hold on. That speed camera flash came from her left. Could it have been for a car in the opposite direction?

The speed cameras you have captured there are all on the same side as you.

Of course, if anybody does fancy Passo Gavia, have a look here.....

Starts off fairly civilised, smooth roads, safety barriers, two lanes, etc. Then that soon changes

Sounds like it was for another car then. In Italy the cameras are almost always on the right. They flash you as you pass them(like in Austria)... so the driver never see's the white flash. They flash you from behind.

In Germany.... they can be on either side of you... but in Germany, they always have to flash you from the front and the flash is always a red flash.
Except in tunnels... like in Munich... the tunnel Blitzer's you can't see the black flash(with the new Blitzers)... until you get the ticket in the mail.

The German's have a law which says the polizei must have a picture of the driver... so that's why they always blitz from the front. In other countries... they don't care... they just send you a ticket.

There is one famous tunnel in Munich that has just been renovated... I think it has 32 Blitzer's in it! You won't see a red flash. Here are some of the cameras...

Kiesselbach-Tunnel in München on the 2R ring road...

A little follow up to July's road trip.

So.....i just happened to be in Austria again last month so i tackled the Grossglockner again. However, this time i was outta bed super early and at the toll station for 5am Made it to the top in no time at all and in time for the sunrise :smashin:

And believe it or not, the photos are in order!

And you may be asking what it is like driving up the Grossglockner in the pitch black, with no street lighting and no other cars......well, here you go

And once again, i have to apologise about the sound quality. After fixing the placement issue, seems there is a break in the cable, as the sound cuts in and out and crackles like crazy.

In a couple of days, i will be leaving on my 2024 roadtrip! This year, we'll be heading to Norway and the Arctic Circle!

Give me a follow on Instagram for hopefully some great photos! And of course, there will be a full write up with many photos when i'm back in early August.
