Driver assist pro package confusion
Hello all,
Newbie here, recently purchased 2020 330i with "advanced driver assist package" in Toronto, Canada. Googling "advanced driver assist" shows me that it is another name for Driver assist pro(or so what i think so). It came with Lane keep assist and ACC with slowing the vehicle down to zero if theres car at front, but my understanding was that it should have also came with traffic jam assist(where the vehicle drives itself under certain limit and conditions) and lane change assist. I do not get a prompt or message for "drive assist plus" I do not see those last two options anywhere in my car. Are these an extra addon or something not available for 2020 model? i thought these are part of Driver assist pro. This is detail description i got from my dealer at purchase of my car View post on imgur.com Last edited by gen90; 06-27-2024 at 01:01 AM.. |

I don't know the answer, but here are my thoughts. I just got my first BMW, a m240, and it also has the same packages yours has. After driving it on a road trip, I realized my loaded Telluride has a far better driving experience when it comes to driver assist. I can drive 100 miles with only touching the steering wheel occasionally. After about 45 seconds, maybe a minute, a message and chime alerts you to keep a hand on the wheel. I can bypass this by having a leg (while wearing shorts) come up and touch the bottom of the wheel while having a sandwich in my hand. It did very well following the lanes without any wandering, very impressive. The 2 series evidently has none of this. By looking further, it looks like the higher series and probably some of the SUVs have the better driver assist package. It looks like they dumbed it down a bit in the lesser models. Just my thoughts since I haven't shopped anything but this car, but have seen it mentioned by others who have more expensive cars than mine. |

Traffic jam assist is equivalent to ACC. It'll enable you to basically keep your feet off the pedals most of the time, including in traffic jams. Lane keep will attempt to keep it in lane. It won't change lanes for you. BMW's ACC is very good against the competition. The lane keep is mediocre. Works quite well with heavy traffic, but requires some intervention otherwise. Lane change assist is more complicated. I'm not up-to-date on the 3er's, but 5er's with ACC and lane keep theoretically have the hardware required for lane change assist, but for many model years in many if not most regions, it was disabled due to local laws. It's possible to enable it via coding in some cases, but not all. Personally I don't care much about lane keep or lane change. It's mostly my legs that get tired. The lane keep is good enough I'd say about 80% of the time on the highway. Still a huge help.

However i do not see any such options under my vehicle settings nor do i get such option during slow traffic. I do however have all the hardware required(radar below the grill, near the windshield, eye movement monitor and steering lights) so im not sure why its not there for me |

"Standard" ACC w/ stop and go works at all speeds. But if it stops for more than a couple seconds you have to click the resume button to start moving again. But still requires no pedal intervention. Traffic jam assistant is an add on to ACC for under 40mph operation only. I don't have it on my car and to be honest I'm not sure what it adds over standard ACC + Lane keep other than you can take your hands off the wheel "for a short time" according to the website. Quote:
