if they bring my car back clean and I mean really clean, yes...usually 20 bucks if it comes back not so clean or just a hand job (you know what I mean)...5 bucks...after a while they will get the hint and always bring it back nice and clean

It probably depends on where you are. If in New York, you better tip. After all, you have to tip the guy in the restroom if you want soap to wash your hands and a towel to dry them.

If it's a young kid that pulls my car up for me I might slide them a $5 or something, but I wouldn't tip my SA. Generally it just depends on my mood and how nice they were to me.

I do tip the shuttle drivers. I've noticed they tend to drive me home first.
These guys make close to minimum wage and work long days. I knew a guy that drove from Bakersfield, CA, to Simi Valley, CA (over 100 miles one way) to be the shuttle for a dealership. Crazy... but he said they gave him great benefits... but I knew he was making nothing when you factor gas in. I give $3-5... I've been blessed and I'm just helping someone out. He's working an honest job, unlike those who stand at the freeway offramps waiting for a handout who claim to be a former vet.

Do these people get taxed on an assumed tip income like they do in restaurants? if not, then their tips likely go completely unreported to the IRS. I would think that in MOST areas (not all) a tip would be very much unexpected. It is also contributing to the delinquency of a tax dodger.

I was asking because about 6 months ago when I took my mothers benz in for service, they drove me home since there were no loaners available. When we pulled up the guy actually made a comment about no tip and was pissed.
I just had my sisters BMW serviced and they do not give out loaners if you do not buy the car from them. So once again I was driven home but this time I had no small bills on me to tip so I told the guy I would tip when he picks me back up |

I don't dodge ANY taxes. I just pay them reluctantly. If some nimrod is going to expect me to pay him under the table where he will be a tax dodger, he can go screw himself. So unless I would suffer some retaliation, I wouldn't even consider tipping the tax cheat. I would consider calling the Mercedes service manager and giving him an earful. |

I'm doing what I can. Vote for Chuck Baldwin. (This weekend I plan to attend the my state Constitution Party Convention.) In the meantime, tax dodgers make my burden greater adding to the federal budget deficit.
