ebay shill bets
I've noticed whenever I want to buy something really cool, like a PS3, the bidding starts really low. 1$. Then I do the smart thing and put it on my watch list, but I dont put any bets on it. Then I see someone come along and bet 4 times in a row on the same item within a few minutes. The people who come along to do this stuff are always new accounts. I think they are fake accounts or friends of the seller who are doing this to drive the price up. And this happens on at least 50% of all the items on Ebay. for example:

sellers are just too greedy. some ads are so misleading. last night i saw an ad that said "free shipping!" in the title, but down at the bottom it says "shipping costs will be calculated upon receiving your postal code and added to the total".
which one am i to believe? lol |

Personally, I really don't like buying from the huge mega sellers. I feel like they are more prone to do something like this. I like buying from the single poeple out there that actually have something extra they are trying to sell. I don't need 10,24359823459324958259820-23523niner234958 past sales for the seller for me to feel confident in bidding. 30 with no negatives is plenty for me. And there is usually a much better chance of going under the radar I feel because once the big sellers get into seller a particular item, they spam sell it. So then you can't tell if they are cheap knock-offs or what.
Its like shopping adware. There should be an option to filter out sellers with over 5k total sales.

just because theres 4 bids in a row by someone doesnt mean they are trying to help out the seller. it very well could mean their bid was 50 but teh current auction bid was only 10 and someone new came along and bid 15, ebay bids again for person A who had a max bid of 50. The system does that until it hits 50 thats why a new person came along at 51. No need to think any scamming going on here, just need to learn how the ebay system works.
