What is the best inexpensive way to repair a deep scratch on the rear bumper

I was taking a chair out of my wife's Seaside Blue 228i and it slipped out of my hands and left a nasty scratch in the trunk.

As you can see the scratch cut through the paint, I would like to touch this up if possible as opposed to repainting the bumper.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Color matched vinyl film on the top ledge of the rear bumper. It'll cover that scratch up and protect from future damage

nothing will truly fill the scratch except filler and a new paint job. if you're ok with still seeing the scratch but having it the same color then try dr. colorchip.

Best & Cheap are mutually exclusive! You can't have both... So pick your poison!

Best fix will cost... But if you cheap out on it, the results might not be anything you like.

Deep scratches that go below paint are hardest to fix. If you don't want to see it, let the pros fix it. Just my opinion!

How bad do you think Dr. Colorchip will look on the bumper?

from maybe 5ft you probably won't see it much. up close with any paint chip repair you'll notice.

here's a repair i did on my glacier silver. different phases of the repair. i had PDR done to remove the dent then filled with dr colorchip

I've had some Dr. ColorChip repairs look basically invisible, especially on smaller chips. It depends on how much time you're willing to spend on the repair. You can always try using Dr. ColorChip first, and if it still bothers you, go for the repaint.

I also vote for the Dr Colorchip route. If you are patient, you will be able to fix adequately.

IMHO touch up paint of any kind would look horrible on that long deepish gash... Either slap your favorite bumper sticker over it or have it professionally repainted.

I concur with this as that's a long scratch in a visually prominent spot. If you're really OCD about this, you're gonna need a legit body shop repair that will likely entail a full repaint. Then you consider the vinyl wrap on top for long-term protection.
