Avatar Question

I'd like to setup an avatar for my profile, but for some reason, I can't get the resolution low enough to upload to the site without it looking bad. I'm sure it's in how I'm converting the image I want to use. I have photoshop and I tried bringing down the image size and the resolution, but it looks bad. Any assistance will be appreciated.

it depends on the image itself, but try saving it as a .GIF file. That can save alot of space depending on how many colors are in the picture.

Avatars are meant to be small so if the file size is too big, try lowering the image size itself, that was you may retain the quality you want while reducing file size..
