Oddly I'm in agreement with Fred Vasseur on this.
Ferrari to discuss compensation for Sainz damage Ferrari will discuss potential compensation for the damage to Carlos Sainz’s car in FP1 at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, “It’s not an easy one to give a set of tires or to give an engine because it’s a gain in performance. But battery, there is no performance in the battery. Considering that we missed FP1, we had a couple of million in damage, the mechanics worked like hell to come back, I think it was not too stupid to consider the case of force majeure.” https://racer.com/2023/11/21/ferrari...-sainz-damage/ More background info Why FIA couldn’t help Ferrari with force majeure penalty waiver in Vegas F1 race The International Sporting Code and the F1 sporting regulations contain a total 11 references to force majeure, which is defined in the former as an “unpredictable, unpreventable and external event.” AlphaTauri CEO Peter Bayer, who previously worked for the FIA and was involved in formulating rules, confirmed that the teams had blocked change on grid penalties. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/oth...ce/ar-AA1keYrS |

Whatever Chas did RB strat had it covered, Max's 5 second penalty was cancelled out by Chas's incidental 4.7 second pit hold up. The reds' failure to take advantage during the SC period making Max closer to Chas by the minute and of course the hard tyre advantage put another hole in Ferraris chances.
