Can anyone recommend a watch?

Hey everyone, I have a challenge for you guys, I'm searching for a specific looking watch, but cannot find it. I saw briefly a gentleman wearing it and realized I need something similar. Please check some requirements below and a few samples pics and recommend something!

- has to be white face
- leather strap: brown or black
- 42MM+, thinner bezel
- on the thicker side
- as classy as possible

Attached is a IWC, I like it, but I feel like it's missing something. I don't really like how the lugs look. I like the chronograph dials and the buttons on the side. I also like how the rest of the face is clean looking.

What do people say about IWC?

Remember straps are a whole mother customization, some come with leather, runner or metal.
Look at chrono 24 we you can filter down to what you want.

The first pics are the IWC Portofino line known for the straight lug.

Now the IWC Portugieser line is very pretty. Particularly a simple automatic without chrono graph function. (Portugieser Complication models get outrageous.)

IWC Big Pilot 501001 the big 46mm models that are the classic decades old style are iconic. The right Big Pilot is a very nice piece, very large however. No white face but
indicative of the desirability of the right IWC.

Some Portugieser and Pilot models have extraordinary movements.

You have a price in mind? I agree with the other posts to consider the IWC Portugieser line over the Portofino.

Other suggestions:
  • Breitling Navitimer B01 (not quite in white, but some adjacent colors are available)
  • Patek Philippe 5270J - not quite as thick as you want, but satisfies the rest of your requirements
  • Used, but what about the Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy 45th Anniversary edition?

Several come to mind for me when I think of a classy chronograph:
  • Zenith El Primero
  • Breitling Navitimer B01
  • Montblanc Heritage Chronograph

Really depends on your budget. The Zenith and the Breitling are both around $7k. The Montblanc is more reasonable at just over $4k. If your budget is a little bigger, you may want to consider the Omega Speedmaster '57 or Chronoscope. Both have a bit busier dials, but it sounds like that's what you may be looking for.

have you heard, not sure if accurate, that the older eta movement based Panerai are better then the in-house movement Panerai ?
Not sure if thats's based on pricing/value or servicing/reliability.

Speedmaster always been cool. Just saw on YouTube a pretty knowledgeable gy say after Patek's and Rolex the Omega (Speedmaster) is a smart buy at holding value a really GREAT piece. And I thought a JLC would have been higher rated than Omega but as an investment maybe not so.

I am not sure of that statement on the movement, as I have both ETA and in-house. No problem with either.

and pretty much true as I have both PP and rollies (not a fan of Rol, but kept on being offer to me, how can i say no.) . Omega and panerai is next on list. that you look for as the other two, almost impossible to buy, now a days.

Just me, but I like actual numbers on my watch face:

But then, after 30-years of wearing some of these, I may be prejudiced:

I have the below watch, but with the silver dial. The white dial is quite nice as well - highly recommend!

I have this exact Longines watch and love it. It seems to hit similar to what you are looking for:

https://www.longines.com/en-us/p/wat...-l2-773-4-78-3

I believe they make a 38mm if you want a smaller watch. My wrist is 7.5-7.75" so I prefer larger watches.

Really depends on price. If you're more budget oriented, I would recommend Oris, great brand with a rich history and they make great watches. If you can spend a bit more and you're looking at chronographs, you can go with Zenith, Rolex, and of course Omega. Tudor actually makes some really good looking chronograph watches as well.

Longines is just a tier below Omega under the Swatch umbrella, but can say it punches above its weight as far as fit, finish, quality of materials and features. Their Zulu GMT watch is very nice too.
