Best way to clean the screens

What are people doing to clean the instrument cluster and infotainment screens? I have smudge problems.

I've been using just a dry microfiber towel to clean away any dust. I'll sometimes will get that cloth damp to clean any smudges, but it's hard to get rid of the streaks.

I use the little individual packaged eyeglass cleaner towelettes that I get in bulk from Amazon, it's pretty much diluted rubbing alcohol but does the trick with no streaking or residue

Hmm, interesting. I always thought these were bad for monitors because of the alcohol. No issues with the coating?

Nah no issues. I also pre-packaged device/eyeglass Zeiss wipes.

Anyone know of a product that can remove ultra fine scratches from the touch screen? Thanks in advance for any advice.

gotta polish them out - it's why one shouldn't use eyeglass wipes.

(1.) Use a properly maintained CLEAN microfiber with deep pile folded to gently wipe (no pressure) over the screen. flip & do it again and then again it you still see dust.

(2.) Take A NEW CLEAN microfiber, mist with 50/50 IPA, and gently wipe the screen clean.

This technique will keep all glossy trim & screens clear of spider webs, i.e., those ultra fine scratches

If you're desperate you could try something with fillers but unknown how that would affect the screen.

So, any swirl remover type polish would work? The prior owner somehow put scratches on the touch screen, they are so fine you can't feel them with your finger when you rub them but they can be seen in the right light and it annoys me. At first I thought they'd wash out but no….thanks for the reply!

no, but (a.) I've never done it before so I'm totally guessing, (b.) it could ruin your touchscreen, (c.) you could try a coating with fillers first.

But if you're committed, and these are total guesses, then a polish used for exterior plastic trim could work or glass polish if it's glass. you could try ultra fine glass polish by hand in a tiny part of the corner and see what happens ... but again, I have no idea really and this sounds like a bad idea.

You can get a custom sized screen protector. While it wont help with your scratches, it will prevent further damage and if you get it in Matte, you prob wont see them. I have one on mine and if you install it right you cant tell its there.

Don’t use a glass polish on the screen - you’ll completely remove the anti glare coating.

Thanks for the info, never considered a screen protector. Matte sounds good. I'll start the eBay search now!

Pledge Electronics spray - if you can find it. It is absolutely the best thing I know of for any screen's cleaning (and stainless steel appliance surfaces too). Still have about 1/2 can of it left...

I use the wheel. I never touch the screen. Touchscreens in cars is ridiculous.
