What's up peeps?
Been awhile..
Hello current and former bimmer people back in the days of BMWForums as past Admin. Hope all is well. I am reconnecting seeking out a BMW X7 X50/X40 model and would like to hear back pros and cons before a future purchase. I still have my 2003 Z4 but had to rid of the 3 Series unfortunately. Look forward to any feedback on X7's in my quest and look forward to be active once again. EDIT: If you just want to say hey that would be cool. I miss the community friendship. Is Furious around?

Welcome back. I, too, am in the market for an X7 (2020/21 m40i). I've been waiting for prices to drop, which they have started to. Looks like you can get a 2020 m40i with about 30k miles for mid-hi $50s now. Trying to stay at/under $60k OTD. Still not sure how much cash I want to put down with these interest rates. i'm getting 5% on my cash now, and rates are around 7.5%.
I'm looking at pulling the trigger soon, but feel like we'll see prices go down further into 2024 as people run out of money, credit limits, heloc etc and they can't re-fi being stuck with a sub 3% 30yr mortgage.

I'm getting 6.9% financing atm from my credit union, 8% at the dealer on a model I have looked at. Either way really high rates with my credit score of 800+

Ouch! I think the purchase part of this thread might be better in the X7 forum, though -- you'll probably get better feedback.

unfortuantely, the X7 forum is kinda dead with most thread action being people wanting to sell/swap all the different wheel sets that came on these cars lol

I picked up 2020 for $65k with 19k miles on it last year and have enjoyed it a lot.
I took the Dinan sport tune from the F30 and also added a dry air filter. - got to love that B58. The F30 got a flash tune Black on black with M-Sport package and black gloss wheels. The only thing I wish it had was the auto pull in park, but got use to it pulling in the garage now. I also like the Captain chairs. I also just replaced all tires; the only down side is we have a very limited selection on tire brand because of size and load. I went with Bridgestone, because they are 1inch wider then the Continentals even with the same specs. Over all I'm happy and enjoy the extra room compared to a x5. |

I ordered a 2023 X7 40i last year. I have nothing but good things to say about it. Can't really think of any cons except that I wish I had optioned the 22" wheels - that was an oversight on my part. But besides that, I find the 40i to be plenty powerful and quick. One thing I'll mention though is that I was lucky enough to option DHP (dynamic handling package) before BMW removed it for the 40i. I do think DHP makes a big difference in shrinking this behemoth down. It feels more like a sedan than a big 3 row SUV in the way it drives and handles. Stays pretty flat in the corners, and the rear-wheel steering gives it a better turning radius than my 3 series.
Some people have complained about the AC not being as strong. I ceramic tinted all of my windows including the windshield (35% all around) and tinted both sunroofs 50%. That seems to have helped a LOT as I've never had any issues with the cabin getting too hot, and the AC works well. Overall been extremely happy with it.
