I put less than 200 rounds through it and it had a few failure to feeds because of the hanging on the disconnector. It was in the NMH16xxxx serial range. Not sure of a born on date. It ran fine once I switched to hotter ammo (124 and 147 gr). Guessing it's the cerakote on the rails and disconnector. People were saying just rack the slide 1000 times to wear it in. I was planning on installing a flat trigger and an EGW ball head disconnector in it but was afraid to tinker since I have never worked on 1911/2011 guns. So I bought a cheap Tisas to practice on and installed a flat trigger and the EGW disconnector. It wasn't as scary as I thought. So now I'm going to install flat triggers on my Staccatos.

Here's the Tisas in final form.

^ Nice!

Love flat triggers on 1911 types. Consistent trigger pulls anywhere on the face of the flat trigger.

For 1911/2011s with very tight tolerances you just need to keep sending rounds down range to break them in. Maybe like 500rnds at a time, clean & lube, send another 500rnds down range, clean & lube, repeat until it fires reliably.

I want to buy a preban AR10 in MA. That is what I have been up to researching. Also trying to find out how to make it weigh 7lbs or less w/ no optic.

You can build or buy a post 1994 one here in MA. There are a few loophole's to get stuff. Just follow the "evil features rules" and enjoy.

I have all the parts to build one, just lazy. I was going to do it on Sat so I could shoot it yesterday.

Dont have mine built, so I cannot weigh it. so good luck with the weight.

Yeah...I kind of wanted preban for the adjustable stock and flash hider but it is much more expensive. I can just use preban mags. I may very well go with a newer AR10.

https://www.reddit.com/r/AR10/commen...unds_stripped/

I have seen a number of lightweight AR10 builds. Some much more expensive than the others. I think I would go with a short 16'' barrel + muzzle brake. I don't need distance and accuracy here in the NE that a longer rifle will give me. I coudl always just swap barrels if I ever wanted a longer one. I would like to take an AR10 out hunting for whitetail this fall if all goes as planned.

I know there are some lightweight AR10 parts available, can't imagine what the build cost would be. After doing both my AR10s I was like holy cow they are heavy beasts, said to my buddy it would be work carrying it around the woods. Will use the luggage scale to weigh them and report, no way mine are close to 6lbs, have to be close to 10.

That is the thing I don't want to hike 30 minutes to my spot with a heavy rifle on my back. I mean it's not that heavy but with some other gear etc. it all adds up. I try and carry less and less every year and be more efficient with what I bring. I want to be light. My logic is a bare AR10 at 6 or low 7 lbs is perfect then once you add on an lvpo optic and a 5 round magazine with ammo.

A LPVO will add a lot of weight, a few of my AR's have them and a few have Red Dots, the LPVO's add about 2 pounds if you get decent ones.

I think my 16" AR-15 with a Vortex PST 2 1-6 weighs a hair over 10 lbs.

Honestly I just sling it when I'm on a hot range doing drills with other guys and such (we are slung and shooting for a few hours). I'm not hand holding it for long periods

I did not think it an lvpo would add so much. Good to know.

I have considered hunting with just a red dot.

However I think a red dot + magnifier would be as much weight as a lvpo right?

I don't think I would want to shoot at 100 yards with a red dot only and no magnifier for a white tail.

The 308 has a $700 JP low mass BCG, both are all Aero HG, Lower, Upper. I am very interested to know the cost of a 7lb build, CF barrel, etc I would guess $3k+.

I would guess around 2-3k too all said and done, also depends how light you want to go and aesthetics . A Faxon pencil barrel, Faxon BCG, and carbon fiber hand guard should take a fair amount of weight off. Here is a list a guy made, not horrible prices: https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/...e.48147/page-2

https://www.thehighroad.org/index.ph...0-ever.822282/ <-- Claims all the way down to 4.5 lbs...

https://pof-usa.com/firearm/revolution/ <-- I don't think I like all the Ar15 parts and it is 7.3lbs which is not exactly light for what they are charging.

Here is a 4lber rather fugly to me:

https://www.shootingillustrated.com/...0-on-a-budget/ 6.6lbs for $1338.85 is not bad...

Me too! I have their ultra light weight ar15 upper on my preban pwa commando lower. Nice and light. Their pencil barrels shave off a ton of weight.

I should really weigh this....
The kids love it though. Super easy for them and one-handed operation for adults if desired.

I've got a poly lower AR that weighs just over 5lb without any crazy hardware.

Debraced my mp5k to comply with the dog shooting bastards new rule. It's fine, slings work the same, just opposite and it's even more compact, so suck it.

Just looked it up, just my Viper PST is 22.7 Oz, but then add for a mount, so..

Just find a light weight scope and rings. you can do a light weight build, just have to do some research.

As for using a red dot at 100, remember, a lot of game was taken with just iron sights. I've shot M1 Garands at 200 yards just using the stock iron sites in a few matches.

I'm not suggesting a dot or irons, just food for thought.

For that price it better be the cheapest. That is insanely light.
