BMW LMDh GTP Roar Before 24 Roll Out

Skipped work for a few hours and dropped in to DIS for Roar. Getting more and more crowded every year. Still a great way to see things close up at the start of the season.

Hey! I spoke to one of the mechanics while there (he was on a break, I don't bother them in the car area). He was talking about it a bit. V8 twin turbo direct injection with hybrid system. He mentioned the direct injection system was giving them a bit of an issue early on. Something about letting too much fuel mix with the oil after long runs. He was laughing about all the intercoolers and such on the car, way more complicated than what the Cadillacs are running.

I'll be there all next week. Have fun! Weather looks WAY better than last year.

I watched the IMSA YouTube show that's covering the return of GTP and all of the hybrid systems are spec so the only engine variable across teams is the IC engine.

Yeah, that is what he was saying. The BMW IC engine was more complicated than the caddy. He did say the caddy was breaking half-shafts from too much torque from what he was seeing. It was interesting to hear him say how last year was just a stop gap year for them and they really were only shaking things down for the European teams all last year on that car. This car is a 3 year deal for them.

Qualifying was interesting. Let's see how the race goes.
