BMW couldn't design a plain envelope right now. It would have sixteen sides and a pop up panel where you're supposed to put a stamp.

I understand Genesis wants to have a corporate face, but their triangle theme just isn't resonating with me. This gives me strong Buick vibes.
Genesis makes nice cars but it's just a geriatric brand in my eyes. It's for people who want a "nice" car and nothing more.

it looks nice.
i have my doubts it sees the light of day. Big two door luxury coupes are dying out and barely sell. 8-series, LC500, F-type. I think thats it. I think the s-class coupe got axed a few years back. it would need to drive like an 8-series for 20-30k less.

Not bad, but not a fan of the lights going into the fender, the triangle in the front is horrible, but what kills most of these new genesis and a lot of hyundais in general is the freaking duck face rear end. This one is probably the least horrific one I've seen but I just can't get over it. I don't know how anyone finds that rear end good looking. Their new Ioniq 6 is so horrific I can't look at it for more than a few seconds without having my eyeballs bleed!
BMW is right there with them though, they have been making some ugly ass cars as of lately. |

It is GORGEOUS. With no B pillar and that low seat (and door) height, it will never, ever sniff of passing a side-impact test. Sorry, so this exact look will not make it to market, but maybe something close will.

The E-Class/CLK coupe hasn't had a B-pillar in decades and have received good side ratings from the IIHS. That being said, I don't think the car will make it to production purely because it won't sell. Genesis has success with their SUV's, but their sedans sell in very low numbers, especially the higher priced ones like the G90.

IIHS has been updating side-impact tests to reflect real-world SUV/Truck collisions, and it is changing the way sedans and coupes are made. You don't have to fail a crash test rating to "fail" a crash test raiting. A rating of "fair" will do plenty of damage in the premium market. |
