Too soon. The first few episodes were hard for me to get through also. I remember thinking the show wasn't that good and the acting wasn't that good. It turns. It gets good. I'm my opinion Breaking Bad is one of the greatest shows ever put on television. Cranston is a home run. Suck it up and keep watching, I bet you'll be glad you did by the end of season 1.

The first 3 episodes were brutally slow paced and rough. Excruciating. But the pace picks up and it gets to 155mph for 5 seasons.

Hang with it.

It is funny, huh?!? I will echo the sentiment though. It's a good series and it'll draw you in. I binged it years ago and I enjoyed it.

It's true. I remember when Walt and Jesse had to melt that body in a tub of acid. It was brutal. It was slow. It wasn't great. It takes off soon though.

That's because it is a hilarious scene. Two guys who don't know what they are doing trying to figure out how to become real criminals.

I am a pragmatic guy and what I liked about the show is it did nt gloss over the challenges. TBH that's the driving force behind the show, OK there's the transformation of Walt but the realities of producing and distributing meth, the logistics etc, they never shied away from any of it.

absolutely! aside from walt's character development, you've hit on the aspect of this show that i enjoyed the most. the life walt chooses is brutal. it is relentless. every time he thinks he finds a way to make it easier on himself, the life says "hold my beer".

I enjoyed the cat and mouse game between Walt and Hank the most. The inevitability of it. Hank was as relentless as Walt was. I was always rooting for Walt but respect to Hank.

We started "under the banner of Heaven" last night. Decent first episode, I'll give it two or three more. The book was great!

That's another one where my wife liked the show and I thought it was just ok. Kinda stopped paying attention after a few episodes.

That's what I love about this thread, reading about series that I otherwise wouldn't have known about. Looks good and I'm into that small town vibe scenery.

Best show since The Sopranos imho.
This. I don't recall the first episodes being dark and depressing at all relative to how dark it gets. If you think the first few episodes are dark and depressing you would do well to sever ties now because it gets insanely dark and even disturbing at some points in the show.

As soon as someone mentions breaking bad… the whole thread becomes about it It’s a good show… most loved it… let’s move on.

Old man was meh, I felt… too much unnecessary drama that went nowhere.
Started rewatching sopranos again… can’t go wrong with that show.

I'm watching the original American Horror Story. I'm on Season 1, Episode 3. I've seen this before, years ago. I'm enjoying it again.

I'm gonna be real honest here...

BB was above average at best. I believe it's popularity is the infatuation with Drugs, Guns and Violence. Also way too much Drama.
The characters are pretty forgettable. So many better overall options if you're comparing all platforms. Especially: Netflix, HBO Max and Premium streaming.

I usually don’t watch K-drama but sometimes I do when the mood strikes. Latest was a 2020 series called “Backstreet Rookie” on Netflix. The main actress is so pretty it got me hooked. Lol

I have many other series to watch on the docket but that's a main reason I haven't gotten back into Westworld - it's a frustrating trend these days, I really dislike having to watch some YT video *explaining what that show/episode was really about* rather than just letting it flow when watching the actual show. I mean, I don't need to be spoon-fed, but when it gets crazily symbolic in an obscure or cryptic sense, or if they flash something on the screen for 0.1 seconds and I miss it but it's really crucial to the story, I think to myself 'why bother' and just tap out.

I think it was an amazing show. It's an understatement to say that Cranston and Odenkirk were special. There's nothing on TV that stands up to BB right now. But I digress.
