I don't think he punked out, he had just had enough. He accomplished his goal and is now living his best life. I wasn't a fan during his championship season, I was rooting for Lewis's side of the garage. But as time has evolved he actually is a rather cool individual.

April fools or not...he definitely has zero intentions of returning to F1.

I don't think Lewis is the type to give up that easily.

Although there have been some rather prominent athletes of late taking time away from their sports for "mental health" reasons.
