Replacing the Body Domain Controller (BDC)
--2015 X5 (F15)--
Has anyone replaced just the BDC by itself? After mechanical replacement of the unit. ISTA+ says to "Carry out vehicle programming/encoding." Resetting additional start lock: - 01 drive - Engine start - Reset the start inhibit I have ISTA/P for programming/encoding, but is it fully automatic to completion? Are the key fobs are setup for remote control, the engine anti-theft system is made to work properly, and so on? I'm concerned that once I start ISTA/P it'll ask for something unexpected which I don't have. Separately, when changing the BDC, ISTA+ says I have to obtain an "enabling code" for my stereo head unit. I assume that's the stereo's theft deterrent, and it won't work w/o a new code. ISTA+ says to get the code from "Technical Support". Anyone know how I can contact this entity? |

Is it possible to use a used BDC?
BDC part number: 61-35-9-327-136
This does not seem to be available new anymore. Everywhere is out of stock. If I go to a BMW shop they might know of a substitute, but that'll be my last resort. Does anyone know if a used BCM can be installed on a different VIN car? Would I need a hacker to go in and remove the previous VIN? |
