In other news, just so you are all tracking how screwed up we are up here, Canada's Minister of Women and Gender Equality (no less) referred to the Taliban as "brothers" and asked them to let those that want to leave do so peacefully.

She later when questioned said it was a "cultural" reference. Given her name is Maryam Monsef and she's a Muslim...I'm not so sure I buy what she's selling.

And I seem to recall in Qur'an 2:225 that Muslims are effectively allowed to lie when under duress. And she'd be under duress right now.

But man...that coming from a person supposed to be looking out for the rights of women no less. Messed up.

I loved those tweets, I don't care what any of you say. They were a hoot. Some of them I agreed with, some of them I didn't, but they were my evening entertainment and now it is gone.

The problem with that is it's 2021, and we're seeing what went wrong in real time, and this one's not rocket science. It's been a major fiasco, and the commander in chief holds full responsibility. There were reports as early as last night that said a terrorist action at the airport was highly likely in the next 24 hours. But with no troops on the ground, there was no way to launch an offensive or clear the airport. There's no doubt we'd hold the last admin fully responsible immediately for such a major f-up--is there??

You don't know what happened or what went wrong?? It's pretty clear to me on both--the what happened part is playing out live on tv--you can watch it.

The what went wrong part is: The US de-commissioned Bagram while thousands of civilians and allies were still on the ground. They sent troops home, and abandoned billions in war equipment, while thousands of civilians and allies were STILL on the ground. They're all trapped there now, with 5 days left before the real shite hits the fan, and it's very unlikely at this point, that they will ever make it to the US.
The outrage is real and warranted.
