Cross under the Hudson in the Holland Tunnel and drive anywhere along the river in Jersey City, Weehawken, Edgewater then head back in the Lincoln or got up to the GWB

I haven't been there in years since the major renovations to know how close to the water you can get with a car these days, but Liberty State Park (NJ) has nice views of the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan skyline.

Years ago, I organized a car rally/tour and we used the High Point monument in Montague (NJ) as a stop and photo op. Good shot of the valley from the parking lot. If you're going up that way, continue north on NJ-23 into Port Jervis NY, then west on NY-97 through Hawk's Nest. It is a famous cliff road, used in BMW and other car commercials.

The top of Perkins Memorial Drive at Bear Mountain (NY) also had a good view of the Hudson River and mountains the last time that I was there.....

This was taken about ten (10) years ago along Route 218 between West Point and Cornwall. Great road/scenery.

Ah, the low road to West Point! Drove it dozens of times.

Funny story. Some friends and I were taking a stretch limo to NYC, and stopped to pick up two friends in Cornwall. One of those friends made the limo driver take that road, and let's just say that it is extra-hairy in an over-length vehicle with turns that it could barely make without scraping the rocks.....

Hope the limo driver got tipped well for that haha. I couldn’t imagine such a large vehicle as you’ve said making those hairpin turns.

A year before I moved from NY to FL I said F this and removed the front plate from my vehicles. As their duty, I was frequently pulled over by local police and NYS troopers. Never received a ticket, though I applaud states that don’t require having one up front.

They don’t require front plates in NJ anymore? I was there about two months ago and I saw them all over. Maybe it was just implemented?

Regardless of my thread jack OP, try Bear Mountain area and along the Palisades Parkway south of the NY/NJ border on the northbound scenic view exits. Also, there is a great view right on the Hudson River just north of Ft Lee, against the Palisades. I think it’s called Ross Dock Picnic Area as I held a meet somewhere there back in 2007-2008.

No sir, its always been a "law" but like tint. They dont enforce it unless they want a reason to pull you over or they suspect you of wrong doing.
I dont know anyone who actually got a ticket for no front plate or tint in my 37 yrs there
