Ive got this one in my cars. Works great, great picture quality even at night.
I have them hardwired into the car with fuse taps. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 As for liability, corrupt your SD card if you think its going to be used against you. easy to do.

I've had a dashcam for years now (maybe 10 years?).
My advice is to get a model that fils the front AND the rear. More difficult to install but you film the rear. I've even once filmed one of those ridiculously dangerous traffic situation that got featured in a (dutch) youtube channel Of course it was an Audi I have a mini0906 (an older model). There are probably better ones nowadays.

Had one on my wishlist, but for a conv its a bit more tricky to find the right one, 2 chan with two cams are not necessary, because of the enormous long wiring to the back to the rear headrests...
Actually I have a taste for Blackvue.
