Still using Google Chrome?
So I heard Google Chrome is a resource hog. Wasn't long ago they were advertising how fast and efficient it is, apparently not anymore. According to Lew Later, Microsoft Edge is the new browser to beat. Just switched and it is pretty good. It's chromium based so all your extensions for Chrome should work. Which browser do you use?

Mainly Firefox. I always have Chrome open as well, though. I prefer Firefox's general appearance, layout, and tab and download handling. I find that it generally behaves better (including extensions), but that can vary based on the website. For example, Target's website and Youtube streams work better on Chrome. Its main selling point--at least to me--is the built-in Google Translate function.

The fat lady sang for me with Chrome several years ago. I'm 100% Opera everywhere, with the location services function disabled because it supposedly reports back to the Google mothership for that function.....

That's true there's also that. With edge I'm not using two browsers anymore which has made a difference with my m1 MacBook Air battery life and it no longer reports any app using significant energy which it did for both chrome and safari.

Yep I used to use Chrome but found my browsing was smoother when using Firefox.

I have used Chrome for years without issue. You want to see a resource hog, try using Photoshop. Just grrrr.

Why yes. Yes I am!
I dislike MS Edge and Bing. I am a windows guy but don't like the way edge and bing work. Google is sooooo much better imo. |

Most websites are best viewed/optimized on Chromium. Even Microsoft made the switch to Chromium as the base browser for Edge: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromi...ed_on_Chromium
Most websites, web extensions/add-ons, and any random software application do some level of data mining for various purposes. Any attempt to evade this using a free web browser is just a false sense of (information) security. |
