Buying an ultra low mileage E39 - what to expect?
I found a deal I can’t refuse. Buying a house and the owners offered that I buy this as well for a killer deal (they know my channel).
A single owner 1998 540i automatic. 18,000 miles. That’s right - 18 thousand miles! Clean title. Blue exterior and beige interior. Beautiful car! Mint mint mint and I mean mint. Shadowline package and sport suspension, comfort seats and lots of bells and whistles. Husband and wife (owners) work for bmw corporate. Car was always garaged. Other than timing chain guides, anything to loo for? Am I making the right choice? Car will be used as a train car. Or maybe I’ll hold on to it and sell on BAT one year... Thanks!! |

I think all the plastics will be kinda dead (like the timing chain guide) just because of their age. Also, 18000 miles for a 20+ year old car is really not a lot, I'd change all the fluids and filters in it before driving it anywhere. The fuel tank might have some gunk in it too. Apart from that, you should be good to go!

Lucky you. I always regret getting rid of my e39
TrueLy one of the best cars ever made, one of bmw finest in my opinion.bmw don't make 'em like that anymore. Values going up for really good ones , a future classic. |
