IIRC, Merc went into that race saying they detuned the engines to make sure they made it to the end of the race... I do hope Max can try to keep up this year to make the podium more interesting but I am not holding my breath.

Detuned ? Just because Checo-Perez blew his Merc thing..
But the Merc's didn't lost a lot of pace , because they were only - 0.1 sec. slower in the same lap and speed-trap .
HAM and his grandma didn't even knew or felt that their spaceship was detuned ...
That's what the WOlf said after the race !

No one else than MAX got the power there , he ran a gap together of 13 sec. on the first spaceship with HAM&Grandma in it

Im not arguing that RB didnt get closer to Merc as the year went on, but this is something we see every year basically. Merc stops development in the current car and starts work on next year mid-way through the season. Near the end of the season, other teams catch up. Everyone claims RB will be in it next year. Next year, season begins and Merc is WAAAAAAY out front. Rinse Repeat.

RIC and PER along with, possibly NOR ahead of Max in the WDC.

Just like the others : Checo Perez hasn't the ability to drive the RB16-B beyond the limits .

After 3 races Checo Perez has already grass on his A$$ .And MAX drives with a lawn mower !

RIC is definitely beating Max this year. I'm sure we'll hear the two usual song cries about Redbull's inferiority causing the greatest driver to every race in F1 fail. Obviously sarcasm referring to the failed boy wonder Max.

Good drivers know when they're on a sinking ship and they also are on the radar for good teams. Both of which applies to Lewis and Max. We obviously know who is the smarter of the two as denoted in MKSixer's sig.

This seems pretty plausible for the top 4-5 (the Perez consistency could come into play over pushing extra hard in an inferior car like Max). I want to see Vettel beat Stroll and Ferrari though. I'll be sad otherwise. He has to have his mojo in the tank still.
