Point & Shoot w/ Excellent IQ & Macro, pls?
Hello Photo Experts!
I had a mishap this vacation, and now need a new camera. I'm settled on a small camera with a built in lens. My past two were: Olympus xz-1 (1/1.63 sensor, 10MP, 1.8f) Panasonic LX-100 (4/3 sensor, 13MP, 1.7f) https://cameradecision.com/compare/O...umix-DMC-LX100 The Olympus was just a little smaller, which I liked. The Panasonic gave better macro pics of forest mushrooms, etc. The Ricoh GR3 is interesting, with an APS-C sensor & 24MP, but it has a 2.8 lens, compared to the 1.7 Panny. http://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/engli...pec/index.html I shoot lots of forest shots, many with a dog in them. I will probably depend on the JPG program, since when I play with RAW pics they only get worse. Some things that confuse me are the sensor size vs MP count vs aperture size.... Other contenders I see: Fuji 100V or F (a bit big, but great pics?) Sony RX100 x (smaller sensor, but good reviews) TIA! Murf Last edited by Littlebear; 09-13-2020 at 02:08 PM.. |

Hi Jason,
I got a Fuji x100v. Biggest sensor (biggest body!), 2.0f fixed lens. I'm a sucker for nice pics, and this camera is pretty much at the top of the "pocket camera" group for IQ. Now I'm busy buying filters, batteries, & a case. We will be going to look at leaves next week so I'll be able to play with the new Fuji, and I promise not to drive away with this camera on the roof.... Murf |

That's great man. The X100V is a pretty distinct camera, for sure. The f2 aperture is nice.

i just saw this thread and was going to suggest the Fuji x100v as well.
ive had my X100T for a few years now and simply love the photos i get out of this thing. the color science of fujis pretty much far exceed any other camera manufacturer (short of Leica). IQ is fantastic, to the point where i only shoot in JPEG and have no need to extensively edit the photos. i simply switch to different profiles using the Q button to toggle through different color styles (classic chrome, b/w, etc). i’ve been reallyyyy itching to upgrade to the X100V (sharper lens wide open, updated processor/sensor, flip screen, etc), but have been patient as the X100T has still been serving me well.
