I used to think that it was difficult to get a pilots license. Having a Cessna Skymaster try to land on me and my car on a *closed* runway with big, light-up X's on both ends, I suspect that they are available mail-order. As if boating with no license needed and the rules of navigation buoys printed on the dashboard wasn't dangerous enough!

This pilot ran out of his nine lives a few months later, crashing in a farm field a mile out because he forgot to remove his pitot tube cover. You know, the thing with the with the bright red ribbon that says "Remove Before Flight" so you don't forget.....

I remember a test flight after a base maintenance event with an A300-600, the crew forgot the pin within the RAT and at altitude where we would test it, function failed caused by not removed pin. Flag wasn't long enough and stucked behind the cover doors, invisible and wasn't checked, since that event all RAT-security flags has extra long flags...

Thank you for yet another reminder about why my paws are firmly attached to the ground at all times.....

I'm confused. How was there time to be aware of and film the incident, but not take evasive action?

Probably bc it was filmed by the passenger!

All you could do is climb a little and pray. It looks like a 172 or 182, they dont move like fighter jets.

Now that's some acrobatic VFR flying. Is this why pilots need a change of clothes?

I felt something similar to this when I went on a ride in a KC-135. We were supposed to refuel some fighters, which canceled, so the captain decided to take on an AWACS. This guy comes in smooth, and then gets nervous as he approached. Came in too fast and way, way too close, as he passed just beneath us. That radar dish is MASSIVE! The second time was no better, and the captain decided that three strikes would not be good, and we headed home.

Depends where North is in the video. As per your image, one aircraft can be flying at 180, one at 359, and they're both to be at the same altitude, yet they're almost a dead head on collision!

I don't think either pilot did a good job of keeping a lookout for aircraft as required.

The Cessna below crossed at about a 90 degree angle of the other plane's course, definitely one of the 2 or both weren't flying at the right Altitude!

They have those altitudes for a reason it's hard to spot other planes and maintain visual separation. Not unusual for pilots asked by ATC to report traffic insight and struggle and some would say i have it on TCAS

Again - I disagree. It's possible to be within 1 degree of a head on collision and still both be at the right altitudes.

It all depends where north is in the video, and there is absolutely no way of telling!

Anglo - the first image is what you're assuming happened. The second image is what I am saying is possible with the same approximate relative angles between their flight paths - in the first image they *SHOULD* be at different altitudes, but in the second one which is entirely possible they *SHOULD* be at the same altitude. It all depends where North is relative to their paths.

The Sun is directly behind the other plane!
