Why? Based on the design of the off-road Wrangler and the requirements for the offset crash test, the barrier basically hits the side frame rail of the chassis. There really is no "fender" on the Jeep to absorb crash energy, so the energy just pushes the high-center of gravity off-road vehicle on it's side. Remember the Wrangler has a full roll cage, so rolling over is really not an issue.
Also the test is probably less realistic than an actual crash between two vehicles where both vehicles absorb crash energy by collapsing and rotating away from the impact point. Even if the Jeep were to hit a guardrail abutment the guardrail collapses (as it is designed to do). Hitting a concrete bridge abutment really isn't comfortable in any type of vehicle. It is a Jeep after all, with a high center of gravity point and a long-stroke suspension designed for off road use. Compromised design for a test mostly meant for road vehicles. Plus how many Jeeps do you see with "If you can read this, Flip me over".

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Never cared for jeeps anyway. Incredibly overpriced unchanged junk imo

The new Wrangler is such an improvement inside and out so this is disappointing to see.

Why would anyone expect a body on frame car to do well in crash testing? A Crown Vic wasn't exactly a safe thing and any pick ups only saving grace is tbat they're heavy AF. This isn't surprising or even something that influences my opinion about Wranglers.

Seems like it was doing fine until the wheel got pushed under it, then it was up and away.

Should have run the test with the doors off for better effect.

rolling over is much much easier than most of the people thinks in reality..
and if you re higher on the ground especially, gives you harder chance to recover and easier to take 4 wheels off the ground.. A column looks fine in this example.. probably taken away most of the energy by rolling over.. wearing a seatbelt and not carrying heavy, small, sharp objects in the cabin is a life saver in the end in such moments.. and actually hitting from back on tire sections of an especially compact car for example is an easy way to shoot a Hollywood movie with a low budget.. seen many examples in real life.. this example was on a Camaro though.. 0:13.. https://www.instagram.com/tv/B_M5c45...=1echvdlo5wn3v
