Lincoln residual values gaining on luxury brands

Punchline: residual values for Lincoln after 36 months are higher than BMW, on a percent of new value basis.

To me it’s fake news because at 36 months a BMW still costs more than a Lincoln for comparable models.

The article mentions Lincoln avoiding certain lease and rental sales. So it’s less of a brand improvement story, than it is a customer targeting story. Lincoln is doing something they should have already done.

Media is always going to spin stuff disingenuously.

But props to Ford for attempting to fix Lincoln's problems at the root. Their image was always as such: old people, dressed up Fords, poor residuals. They seem to be focusing on these.

GM on the other hand is just crapping the bed with the Cadillac division.

Agree. Lincoln apparently figured out that it was going to successfully compete with the Germans so instead it went for luxury and power. The cars may not handle like a BMW/Merc/Audi but for many US customers, it will do the trick.

Cadillac, on the other hand, can't figure out what it wants to do.

Lincoln has a lot of potential as their design department is above average for a Ford brand. But their marketing sucks and they haven't been able to shake the "old person Towncar" stigma. It takes more than Matthew McConaughey.

I do think the product has helped. I've seen new Navigators and Aviators in wealthy suburbs of Seattle, a place where the only non-Tesla American cars you see are Tahoes, Yukons, and Explorers.

Agreed, they are showing up in tonier areas. Too bad about the Conti, they don't seem to be able to give them away.

Unfortunately even BMW figured out that people don't want BMWs anymore. They softened their driving dynamics and now sell people on the image of driving a sporty car. GM got it all wrong with Cadillac. They took aim at BMW of the 2000s and tried to sell it to the modern consumer who no longer wants that. Nobody ditched their German sedans for Cadillac, and at the same time they alienated their own customer base.Total disaster in product planning.

Then you have the products themselves with their lackadaisical interiors which trail the competition both in design and material and build quality. The newest Lincolns and Genesis vehicles look like big efforts whereas Cadillac is the same old half-assed story from GM. GM hasn't done anything for Cadillac's reliability or residuals either. Just one blunder after another. I grew up in a GM family and know the story well...every guy is simply trying to please his boss and it shows.

My next vehicle will be an SUV, and it's either Jeep GC, Durango, or Navigator. The new Lincolns look so dang good, even if the Navi is HUGE.

Try out those perfect position seats before you buy them. Unlike the seat's name, its quite difficult to find one. They just feel very tight and stiff/uncomfortable (and I have a pretty lean frame).

Don't know why that's so hard to believe......

Here are the top ten worst deprecating cars on the market...not good news for BMW when four out of the ten are BMW models.

Good news though for us, the 3 and 4 series didn't make this list

Hard to believe. Our F30 depreciated enough to make me double check that It wasn't a boat.

Haha....yeah, that's what makes them such a great deal in the used car markets

I got a 9000 mile 2 1/2 year old CPO for almost 50% off original window sticker

Why don't folks want the Continental? Seems like a cool car

I think it's priced almost comedically high, and like said above, it should have come from the factory with suicide doors.

The new Escalade that debuted yesterday definitely looks like a step up. If I needed a giant SUV, it would be up on the list. That 38in OLED screen.
