Person in am dealing with says I have to pay the £220 to get the job done. No goodwill or warranty considerations.

Total joke. Not sure there is anything I can do!

Like said above, bet this happens again!!!
Complain to BMW UK.

Why?
Because he says they get no warranty work approved for faults in water jets.

Will complain to BMW UK in due course.

Good luck. But presumingly you knew this was not covered under warranty which is why you booked it in at the agreed price??

Sounds like the dealer is fault. They quoted a price and should stick to it. I can understand a small increase but not this.

Asking for over 3 times the cost now is ridiculous.

Spot of good news. They have now honoured original price. Annoying that it takes a battle and most people will probably just accept.

Surely the one time use clips they would have to replace would not have cost £150. I always used filtered water from our fridge/freezer but still had this problem, although it was shortly after it was topped up at a service. I think it's mainly down to location of the tank and the water getting gently heated enough to encourage growth and the type of filter used on the pump blocking easily. Far too many different BMW models are affected by this problem.

Expensive clips !

My suspicion is thatey'le also charging you for a new washer fluid tank, not simply cleaning it out.

A little update on my car...

So just had the call - BMW declined the warranty work - but my dealer (Tamworth) have covered it as a goodwill.

Would have been £230 - they said they have replaced my washer bottle.

Off to collect it now - hopefully with a some working washer jets!

Obviously the fixings are cheap, it's the time taken to remove the refit the tank. On the F25 you have to remove the arch liner and the trim so they were trying to charge you for there time.

Quick update.

I've emailed BMW UK asking for advice on how to prevent further blockages. Response below....

".....this is a common issue and comes down to the dilution of the screen wash being used in the vehicle. I'm aware you believe you're using the correct fluid, but Marks' advised there may be an issue with the amount of concentrate to water being used.

The best thing to do to stop this happening on your BMW X3 and your BMW X3 M40i, is to only use BMW pre-diluted screen wash – instead of concentrated screen wash."

This may explain why the fluid in my screenwash seems really clear compared to what i had in before after my service.
