Wyze Cam

Picked up one of these online. Apparently they have them at Home Depot now. These cameras are better than the big boy cameras like Nest not just because they are way cheaper. They are just better. Also ordered the smart bulbs which just came out and are only available from their site or maybe amazon. $7.99 is the same price as a dumb light bulb but with features that rival the Phillips Hue without a hub. $19.99 for a camera that is better than Nest! Anyone one else try one of these? Person detection is the real deal.

I just ordered and installed 6 of these about 2 weeks ago. 4 inside the house and 2 outside. I absolutely love these cameras and am very impressed with the quality and functionality. Definitely surpassed my expectations. And for the price you just can't beat them.

Thanks!

I going to try one out. We couldn't commit to a Ring doorbell because of the subscription needed.

The subscription for Ring works out pretty well if you also own their security system. $100/year for monitoring is pretty inexpensive.

Wyze is OK for free live video monitoring but the 12 second recorded clips aren't very useful in potential burglar identifying images. Yes, you can add a SD card for expansion but that can get fairly costly depending on how many cameras you buy.
However I agree, despite the limitations, for the price and no monthly fees they can't be beat.

Yeah, the wyze could keeps the 12 second videos for 2 weeks (iirc) and then deleted them. For me, 12 seconds really does seem sufficient although I need to check and see if the length of the video can be changed.

My wife got home from work before me last week so I jumped on and tried the two way speech through the camera and it worked rather well. We were able to have a conversation for a few minutes, and the only thing we noticed was a short delay.

The Wyze cameras can also be shown on your Amazon Echo Show device just by asking Alexa. Plus it's hands free and pretty responsive too.
