Relocation from Honolulu to Seattle for work

I am based in Honolulu, but now my company wants me to relocate to Seattle. I have spent a good amount of time working there and I do like the place. My question is what relocation allowances should I expect/ ask for given that both cities are among the highest cost of living locales? I already have an idea what I need but I thought I would pick all your fine peoples brains. Thanks in advance.

Also, my M240i is under lease until October 2019. I want to ship it up there if I do decide to relocate. What options with BMW NA do I have?

Make sure you get an allowance for raincoats and umbrellas

Lol, people with raincoats and umbrellas are often tourists here.

Not sure about the relocation conditions.

I lived in Hilo Hawaii for 22 years, so Seattle doesn't rain more than that! I love the rain.

Work out what you'd want as a minimum and see what the offer is. The couple of times I've done it they moved & stored all personal possessions, including furniture, put the family up for 6 months in decent accommodation while house hunting, and threw in a few grand for incidentals.

How true. How true. LOL!

My rain gear amounts to a baseball hat and a Columbia jacket. Of course all you wimps in Seattle probably wear gloves too.

Generally relocation packages are based on the level of the employee.

As a Director my last move package was $15K up front (grossed up), 6 months living expenses (paid up front), 6 months of corporate housing , 2 exploratory trips, 4 trips back and forth, transportation of up to 3 vehicles, all moving expenses including packing, all closing costs and fees for both RE transactions and a smattering of other things. This was in 2009.

I'd adjust based on your current career stage and for inflation. Good luck!!

Cheers-mk
