Anyone shadowed?

So the art of cutting foam for your tools to sit in there drawers.

I've seen a few YT tutorials on this, anyone done this, got any good ideas, tips or tutorials on this.

If I'm going to do this, I do wanna do a good job and make it look good,
I don't have an awful lot of "Doh-Ray-Me" a laser cutting printer would be nice

Hot wire knife is what you need. If you try to do it with a blade it will come out jagged unless your foam is pretty stiff and very shallow.

If you really want it to look good I'd pay someone to do it for you with a laser. Shouldn't be too expensive.

It has been like forever since I helped s/b do this, but from what I remember, Freeze the sheets of foam first, and you can use a hobby bandsaw (or probably a jigsaw) or an xacto knife). Unless you go for a laser, it will probably not look as nice as you picture (if you want that factory perfect look), but it will keep them from rattling while you drive. Of course, so does a tool roll or a few rags, which is what I settled on after wasting a weekend helping s/b try to do it the pretty way. I'm a bit surprised that the producers don't all offer custom cutting to your pattern now, since that is so easy for them to do - I bet if you look, somebody is offering that?

have been looking at a lot of YT vids'
looking like Kaisan foam is the way to go and pretty easy to cut, long tip pen
and a knife.

I'll do some organizing and let you guy's know how it all turned out

Kaizan foam is not gonna look as nice as thick dense quality foam.

Go with dense foam and forget using a knife or hot wire cutter. I've done it and it looks like shit.

Trace your tools and have a company laser/water jet cut the foam.

Also if you want to make it look even better get a 1/4" thick red foam and glue to the bottom of the already shadow cut 1/2" or 1" black foam.

I like to, but a lot of times it doesn't come out as good as I want. And it's not worth the money to watercut/trace them for craftman tool that I don't use everyday.

It's easier and cheaper to just stay organized.

I agree with the two color foam layers. It is how we did it in the military. However, we just cut out own with an Exacto knife.

So I ordered some kaizen from Fastcap (US) got all 3 sizes, the knife, thin blades and the long nose marker, was actually quite cheap ($60 USD) but the freight was more that the blinking order ($75 UPS) cheapest they could get done for me, I'll also get hit with customs, guessing around $30-$40

so all in just under $200 for some foam LOLZ, the problem is the size, as the sheets are 2x4 so it's bulky more than anything else.

If somone is going to tell me I could have got it in Canada please "DONT"

so here we go,

it's fcuk harder than it looks, first attempts, but I do like how it works,
I'm going to practice on a fewer of the smaller things which aren't as showy, till I get the knack of it
