SIRIUS XM pricing inconsistency

Its not a high dollar item to begin with.
But there seems to be a variance as to what each person pays.
Yes there are the assembly of packages = whats paid. To a degree !
So what packages do you have, and what are you paying.
.
A neighbor gets what he calls basic and is paying $80 annually
.
My sub ran out for 2 cars a few months back, might renew.

im paying $5 a month for sirius, have been since 2013 with my mini cooper. i was real worried id lose that deal when i got a new car, which came with sirius free for 6 months or a year, i forgot which. but lo and behold it still worked.

the key imo is to call and say youre going to cancel, and then let them tell you their retention offers. i do have to call them every six months but i just make sure to set a reminder on my smart phone.

edit: ive got the select package

Tell Sirius you got the offer to restart the service for $60 for 12 months. That’s the best deal out there, according to the thousand e-mails they’ve sent me in the last 2 months.

You have to continually call them to reduce the price otherwise they will increase it. $5 a month is about the best you can get. I don’t know why they can’t just charge that amount. I got tired of doing the little kabooky dance with them every 3 or 6 months so just canceled and never renewed. It’s not like it’s high quality audio. I did like a few of the news channels so even at $5 a month, why am I paying for AM quality radio? Back in the day, part of the allure of paying was that it was commercial free. That’s not the case now either because they can’t afford to or decided to squeeze consumers for more revenue. Obviously you can tell I’m not really impressed with the service or their sales tactics.

Yeah, 5$ a month really is the going rate and you have to call--takes very little negotiating. They will say we can do 5$ a month for 12 months and you just use the force and say I'll take 6 months at 5$ a month. And they will say we can do 6 months at 5$ a month.

I've been doing this damn tango with Sirius for 5 years. Every six months, call to cancel only to get an offer of $8/mo then threaten some more and get it to $5/mo.. why don't they just give that pricing upfront and save the BS, hell charge me $6 or 7 and I'd say yes.

This last time, I was ready to call it quits, for real. Already bought a Bluetooth audio usb for my car and ended up getting them to throw in the app access as well so I can listen to it in my office.

I know a number of my brother-in-laws back in the day when Howard Stern went over they offered lifetime plans for$300 or something similar and they all signed and have not paid since. Looks like you'll are paying for them.

Why limit yourself with Sirius when you can get Pandora for $6/month and listen to more radio stations than you could ever dream of?

I always thought the reason we added a SXM to the boat head unit was because we were off shore and couldn't get cell/normal radio service. Still haven't been able to get that free 6 months. . .

Yeah they only care about the number of subscribers. It's like magazines. The larger the subscriber base, the more they can charge advertisers. That said, I also call once a year and negotiate down to a very low rate. I use the app to listen to Howard on the train 2hrs a day so I definitely get my money's worth.

I think with the lifetime deals, you can only transfer to ~3 devices; then they lock you out.

So like, if you buy 3 different cars over the next ~6 years, etc. the "lifetime" subscription terminates when you move away from that 3rd device.

You could be right, but I know the family members who have those accounts, are still using them today and I know they been through a numbers of cars. However, their original account was on one of those portable units and they move those units from car to car.
