So now that Whole Foods is owned by amazon and their prices are being slashed and you get 5% cash back with the amazon card, is it worth it? Just wanted to know if pricing is comparable to Trader Joe's

Where did you read their prices are getting "slashed" I think it's just for their generic foods, not everything.

Not even close!

My wife and I used to shop exclusively at Whole Foods and then hit TJs for a few odds and ends. Did this for about 4 years. Our weekly groceries at Whole foods amounted to about $200. Add another $25 or so at TJs. Grand total right about $225 per week.

Well we flipped that last summer and now shop exclusively at TJs and pick up a few things at Whole Foods that we cant get at TJs. Weekly grocery bill is about $125 at TJs and $50 at Whole foods. $175 total.

Saving at least $50 per week. $2600 a year!

WF is without a doubt the biggest rip off of a grocery store in the universe... the one I live next to has the shittiest deli meat imaginable, you can't buy normal store items and its loaded with all of these horseshit organic items. Their ready meal selection is solid, but if you discount that, its genuinely the worst store to go to. Wegman's in the northeast makes WF look like big lots for the same prices.

Our local premium supermarkets (not warehouse superstores) put both to shame, with better selections, higher quality and lower prices. Trader Joes does have better free samples on Saturday mornings, though.

Whole Foods is a rip off and Trader Joes is the same shit I can get at any supermarket. I use to go to Publix but that place is getting crazy also. They opened a Walmart that's only a supermarket by my house so I go there now. Way cheaper than Publix and the same crap. If I need special meats I go to Costco or Western Beef.

Was just at WF it's still expensive, but the food is on another level. TJ's isn't at that level with more packaged foods and no real meat section, just a few packaged items. By far the cheapest. If WF did really come down in price I might go there more often even if it wasn't as cheap as TJ. I did see the Amazon locker there, but it was inside the store unlike at 7/11 which means it isn't 24 hour. Actually they could put the 711 locker inside the store and it would still be 24 hour ironically. They should move the WF lockers outside.

my local super Walmart carries some of the same products as my wholefoods.
and it sells the best oranges I've ever had

Only reason I never went to Walmart is because I despise going to Walmart. However this small supermarket Walmart is decent. Never too crowded like normal Walmart.

We shop mostly at Publix and get some specific items from Fresh Market, Whole Foods and Doris Italian Market. Costco for a few things every 4-6 weeks. Trader Joe's is pretty useless to me and I absolutely hate stepping into Walmart for any reason (although I do order non-food items like soap from them online). Whole Foods has some good cheeses, some frozen food and desserts. I have no interest in pretty much anything in the center of the store and refuse to buy prepared foods, bread or desserts that are serve yourself. I find those disgusting.

I would say publix is the best supermarket in the south and ties Wegmans for #1 in usa per CR ranking... you can actually get legitimate products at Publix, its a bit expensive but they dont play games with any weird shit.

Yup Publix is always top notch. I like how I can order deli stuff online and it's ready for pickup when I get there. However I can't justify the price difference for most of the stuff we get. We use to shop strictly at Publix before they opened the Walmart supermarket.

Thank you, I felt I was the only one. I don't get the hype about Trader Joe's. Average selection and most of their stuff isn't exactly healthy. It's nowhere in the same league as Whole Foods.

I only go to WF for lunch, never do groceries of any kind there.

The difference between TJ's "junk food" items and the standard junk food is the ingredient list. TJ's ingredient lists are short and simple. Far fewer chemicals and additives. This goes for all of their packaged foods as well.

We get only certain things from WF (some produce which is of high quality and is getting cheaper under Amazon) and more from TJs.

TJ's has several items that are not only really good, but reasonably priced. Their ingredient list is usually short & simple. We make the trip to Tucson every month a two to stock up on our favorite items. "Whole Paycheck" can keep their $5 Asparagus Water, LOL!
