Your preferred non-polarized sunglasses (so you can see the HUD in your BMW)?
First world problems, but that's why we're here, right?
Shortly after my F80 purchase I came to realize I don't own a pair of non-polarized sunglasses that let me see the HUD. Anyone found the perfect pair of non-polarized glasses or a pair with the polarization rotated 90 degrees compared to every other pair that's out there? |

I can’t do the polarized sunglasses ,, I hate the distortions,, I also fly airplanes with EFI, and polarized glasses distort the screens bad..
I like Ray-Ban .. non-polarized sunglasses.

Agreed. Accidentally bought a pair of polarised glasses. My windshield is tinted with Llumar Blue Air. NOT a good combination.

Ray-Ban non-polarized. If you have a pair of RB with P lenses, you can easily buy non-P RB lenses for about $40 and swap 'em. For a few pair of RB sunglasses here i have both types of lenses depending on where/what we're doing.

Out of the seven pairs i own so far, all are polarized. Ive tried to go back to non-P but cant. To me being able to see clearly vs seeing the HUD, I choose the first any day of the week. That being said, Oakley and raybans are probably your best bet. I don't think maui jim makes non polarized but if they do, i would look into them first. If you want some style, prada and louis vitton make very nice glasses as well.

Ray-Ban FTW ... Salt Optics (small Cali company; frames & optics made in Japan by hand) a close second.

Just tilt your head when you want to look at the HUD.

Polarized that work with HUD
Hello
I have had good luck with Solar Shield polarized clip-ons, by Gentile Grip, sold at Wallgreens. They do dim the HUD some, be leave enough light thru to see it fine. You might have to increase the brightness of the HUD. You need to be a glasses user. They might make regular sunglasses, I don't know. BTW: if the polarization is turned 90 degrees as suggested, it will defeat the polarization effect on the roadways and not give you the protection that you are looking for. They tint that is no polarized will continue to work. Bailyhill

If you wear glasses, prescription sunglasses are where it's at. Perfect vision, uv protection, and good looks all in one. Doesn't get any better for driving. I have Persol Rx and love them!
Otherwise, if you can stand dealing with wearing contacts, non-polarized is my vote. I've owned polarized before and was not a fan of all the strange side effects like rainbow effect when looking through auto glass at certain angles, poor visibility on displays, etc. I never saw any practical benefits over non-polarized.
