Winter Solstice Sunset + 1 Day
As yesterday was the Winter Solstice here in The Northern Hemisphere and, as usual, I intended getting a Solstice Sunset shot, but my plans were completely clouded out. 100% cloud and no colour in the sky !
Today however was completely different. With sunset at 15:25 GMT I kept an eye on the sky and as it looked promising, I went up to our local lighthouse for some shots. This first shot was taken just as the sun started to dip behind the lighthouse and the sky started to pick up some colour - Then, 10 minutes later, around to the other side of the lighthouse to get a shot looking due North across The Moray Firth, with the afterglow of the setting sun behind me - Then, finally, as the colours continued to get stronger, I went back to The West Beach (and if you look closely you can see the lighthouse in the distance), for a much wider shot of the amazingly colourful sky -

Stellar shots, Alan. Timing and a knowledge of the area really paid off.
