Advice needed on purchasing a car in Hong Kong,
I'm new to getting a new car in total and have read and understand how it works in other regions but am confused on Hong Kong I've been told that Hong Kong can be treated as a whole branch without separate franchises is this true? Something about 6 months and 100% tax on additional accessories including cosmetic? mods need to be verified with corresponding bodies ? can I install at port to skip a 2nd verification ? my dealer told me I can't track my car ? looking for a kind soul that is able to answer any of my questions thanks in advance |

I can't speak for anything else you asked, but regarding tracking, neither BMW nor dealerships officially condone using any BMW for "competitive motorsports" (i.e., track use).
This is not specific to Hong Kong, just that BMW and its dealer network doesn't want to be liable for anything that occurs from track driving. It is a fine print specifically mentioned in the owners manual, which is very ironic considering the M3 has always been marketed as kind of a daily-able race car, so to speak. Of course, if you want to track your car and have resources/time to spend, I hear it is popular for the more affluent Hong Kongers to bring their car to mainland China and attend track days in Zhuhai. Of course, that's a potentially expensive process as it likely requires a cross-border license plate.

Aside from Singapore HK is the last place in the world I'd want to own a car. So expensive and a huge pain in the ass from what I've been told.
