► x299 / 1151 Or AM4
i built a gaming rig about a month ago (spec below) and building another.
case: corsair 750D mobo: asus maximus ix hero ram: corsair lpx 16gb cpu: i7 7700k cpu cooling: corsair h115i gpu: evga 1080 gtx hybrid ssd: samsung 500gb os: windows 10 psu: evga 850 g3 for the new system, would you buy the new i7 7740x on new x299 platform for future proofing? i think going with the current i7 7700k on 1151 platform will last many years to come until the entire pc would need to be replaced. on another note, since i have a pc using i7 7700k, im debating using new ryzen 1700x or 1800. testing shows about 10% fps reduction in games but multitasking and future proofing with multiple cores/threads will prove beneficial especially when future game developments adjust for multi cores/threads. the am4 platform will be relevant for years to come since it was recently released as well. thoughts/advice?

I'm an intel guy. I would go with i7-7700k since most games aren't very CPU intensive anyway.
