If speed/power is your main goal...supplement both back/front squats with plenty of box jumps, sprints, and sled pulls.

Old pic of me repping 100kg / 220lbs.

Note knees over toes (not good) and lack of mobility in shoulders (elbows pointing slightly down).

Form is much better now, however, I've moved on from gym selfies so no evidence

If you are looking for "Athletic Strength" then make sure you are front squatting regularly, as well as back squats. Its a great way to hit the quads, upper back and core. Had a strength coach that swore by front squats to increase speed and explosiveness. And its good if you have some back issues, as it doesnt load the back up like back squats do.

I do Oly lifting and do love my back squats. However, 20% of the time I do fronts to get some balance up front as well.

I typically do back squats 90% of the time....I can lift heavier, and they just feel more comfortable for me overall. Do you guys prefer one over the other, and do you feel there's really a big advantage to doing both, or just sticking with one over the other???
I actually noticed some back pain on low-bar back squats, so I switched to front and never felt better...

But, you should be switching it up constantly...
