Oculus Rift CV1 / PC VR in general

Who bought a CV1?

I plan to get one when Assetto Corsa gets the next VR update, hopefully with VR menus. I had a DK2 and it worked great with AC but as there are no VR menus you can't setup your car before a race / online session or view any other options which is more or less a complete dealbreaker. The experience, though, is unbelievably cool and immersive and I would have kept the DK2 but the resolution made the experience somewhat like driving while legally blind and nausea was a huge problem even with correct IPD set. I hear dramamine works well for the nausea so I'm willing to give it a shot again.

DCS is another legit title that has good VR support, and the overall experience is great but you can't really use it for missions without having labels turned on. Unfortunately DCS is somewhat poorly optimized so framerate is a big issue. The flight model also blows ass but what can you expect when you're used to X-Plane 10?

Thoughts on VR in general are also welcome.

I had DK2 as well. The resolution was so bad that I sold in few days. I'm reluctant to touch any of the 1st gen headsets now. The tech is not good enough, the games aren't there yet. Best wait, unless you have money to burn.

Lots of scalpers winning big on ebay with the CV1 right now. Prices are beyond insane.

The regular price isn't really a big deal, I bought my DK2 for $500 and and lost $100 after selling it. Easily worth it for a month of playing with the tech. I don't expect to keep the CV1 very long either.

I preordered the Rift on the first day (9am). But so many got their order in before me that mine doesn't ship until June. I bought it specifically for Assetto Corsa as well (though I plan on trying out many of the other VR games).

I've been playing assetto corsa with the dk2. It's pretty amazing (if you can look past the screen door effect.) Went to the 'ring IRL and then went on the simulator and it was uncanny.

Unfortunately assetto corsa doesn't support cv1 yet.
