This is a sweet car, but the average person won't be able to tell it's special and think it's just a "normal" CLK. How's about spending 140k for everyone to think you've got a normal MB? I'll take my Aston Martin, regardless if it is slower, because then I've got prestige and looks!

Classic SoCal response. God forbid someone thinks you bought a "normal" CLK. The CLK black looks nothing like a non-AMG CLK. The black series' have exterior enhancements that make make it very distinct.

I agree.. I can see someone saying that to a S4 vs. a A4 but not the CLK 63 BS..

Ya, it looks a lot different than a normal CLK. Everything from the rims, the wider, lower stance and all the carbon fiber....

I never said that that's what I thought about it. From other people I know and what I've seen, people who aren't into cars have a hard time telling them apart. I'll be like "whoa, check out that S-Class (and it will be an S63 AMG)!" and my friend will say something like "yea, S's are pretty nice" and I'll have to tell him it's a special one that costs a boatload more. As for me, I love how the Black Series has that widebody DTM look to it, and I've heard it has a lot of CF. I just meant that some OTHER people have that "it looks like a cheaper version" outlook. If you read my post did I ever say I thought it looks like a normal CLK?

You're still missing the point. You might be able to recognize M cars, AMGs, etc; I don't doubt that. You just seem to be very worried about what others think you spent on your car. You seem to feel that the more you spend on your car and the more others know how much you spent on the car, the more prestige you acquire. That is why your reply is the typical image conscious, SoCal response.

Who cares what others think. Buy a car because you like it, not for others.

It's a nice car and all. Exclusive and refined, but I'd rather have a 997 GT3 for the price.
