2012 maserati granturismo convertible (DEALER PROBLEMS PLEASE HELP)
Hello everyone,
I am posting this to help my mom out. She purchased a 2012 maserati granturismo convertible in 2014. The car had 3,950 miles and is a 2012 model. We bought the car from the "best" dealership in miami. It is called the collection. We paid $113,000 for the car. Then the problems began. Now the car has only 11,819 miles. In 2 years she has put 7869 miles on it. -First week with the car my mother noticed a burning smell, she asked me about it and thats when we noticed her 315 P Zeros were bald. $1000 replacement. -2nd problem was her battery died. We jumped the car multiple times and it kept dying. Dealership fixed it. -3rd her speakers blew out and she can no longer listen to music. -4th part of her convertible broke -5th windows will not go up or down -6th this morning she had all of her dashboard light up with every warning, after restarting it said "ESC failure" and "ABS off" My mother has never gone over 60 MPH in the car and takes car of her car very well. She owned a Lexus before this car for 8 years without a single problem. I think the dealership ripped her off some how and sold her a broken car. What im here to ask everyone, is there anything that can be done about this? This car is in repair every month and were sick of it. The warranty will run out soon and we will be fucked.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Setting proper expectations is key, Maserati is certainly nowhere near Lexus reliability wise but sympathize for you. Doubtful TC knowingly sold you a bad car, strongly recommend consulting with a lemon law attorney who can determine your rights. You may want to consider visiting another dealership, I have a personal contact at Ferrari Fort Lauderdale who took fantastic care of my '10 California.
P.S. Italian cars are notorious for being hypersensitive to voltage levels -- don't forget your battery tender at night. Last edited by sonic1; 12-10-2015 at 01:26 PM.. |

Sounds like a lemon to me, I'd start talking to the dealership about what they can do, and if nothing, start taking steps to contact an attorney for more information, because that car sounds like a damn timebomb waiting to blow up.

IMHO I would get rid of it while it still has the factory warranty as that would be enticing to a potential buyer. Or just save the headache and trade it in. I'm not surprised as I know a tech who just left this dealership and told me stories. GLWS.

While this may seem like a lemon, it might not be considered one based on your state laws. From what I've seen, a lemon is usually a car that has been serviced for the same problem x number of times and has been in the shop x number of days. All the problems you've listed are not the same problem.
I would have a conversation with the dealership to address your concerns. They may throw on an extension to the warranty. They may not. It doesn't hurt to ask. Or look to see who the contact is for Maserati in North America is and contact the corporate arm. As far as the comments about it being an Italian, I can concur. I don't own an Italian automobile but a motorcycle...Ducati. My ownership experience with my Ducati 848 has been a love hate thing. |

Heard a joke once that if buying a Maserati then you should get two so you can still drive while the other is getting fixed.
Guess it wasn't that much of a joke. Sorry man. Hope you get them to sort this for you.

im going to try to answer every post at once here
water flood damage im not sure about, my mom bought the car without me and probably got scammed and the car was in repair for the same thing multiple times. there is just so many problems with it we might be running into problems, i read that you have 24 months to file for lemon, we are exactly on our 24 month of purchase.

Sorry to hear. In my opinion, the Collection is one of the last places I would buy a car and unfortunately, not surprised to hear of a problem with a used car they sold, particularly a Maserati. I hate that dealership. Isn't there another dealer in Ft. Lauderdale or West Palm? Maybe give them a try for service, get the car squared away and then sell it.

So the car was maybe two full years old on the street with only a little over 3K miles and the rear tires were bald? Ok, the previous owner had a heavy foot like Brian Earl Spilner, however, the dealer should have put four new tires for your mother prior to delivery date. I know there were/other issues by the car but the tires should have been replaced by them.

Take your mother to Braman. I work 4-5 blocks away and their new dealership is amazing and they gave me a great deal on my f30 earlier this year. Get rid of the car while the mileage is crazy low

Unfortunately, dealerships can't tell whether a car is going to be colossal piece of crap or not ahead of time, hence the manufacturers warranty. It makes a great noise, and hopefully your mom has enjoyed it a little bit, but she should trade it in while there is still some warranty left. Be prepared to get much less on trade-in than what you anticipate. Maserati depreciates faster than almost any car I've seen mostly because of the reliability reasons you stated above. Pass on getting a lawyer and trying to fight this out, it'll cost even more money, and no promise of a satisfactory resolution. Save the several thousand and put it towards a more reliable car. jmho. ymmv. |
