2001 540i Code Question
Hello everyone.
I am in the process of buying a 2001 540I M-sport and its throwing code PO 345 This car runs like new. No engine sounds at all. The mechanic who has worked on trying to locate the reason for this code has replaced the 2 Cam Sensors, replaced the Vanos Solenoid and has tested the computer to make sure its getting the information from the sensors which it is. He seems to think that it either needs a new Timing Belt Tensioner or a complete Timing Chain Replacement. The later is quite costly but so much maintenance has already been done to this car I hate to pass it over since I am getting it for 5K. As I said it runs and drives flawlessly. The interior is a 9.5 as is the exterior. Everything works and performs as expected and its wicked fast. Here is what has been replaced in the past 18 months that I know of. There is probably more that I can't remember at this time. New Radiator Radiator Hoses Water Pump Thermostat Serpentine Belt PVC Valve Front lower and upper control arms replaced Rear suspension replaced Transmission serviced per BMW Rear Seal Replaced Pan Gasket Replaced Timing Gasket Replaced Seat Twist wires fixed, both front seats Complete front end alignment done 2 months ago 4 new tires, less than 1000 miles, staggered tires so not cheap ( Goodyears ) New plugs, wiring 6 months ago New Cam Sensors New Vanos Solenoid ( only 1 on this particular model ) Comments are welcome. And thanks in advance. |
