PCD unavailable for the next few months?
Hello all
First, the good news. According to BMW's 1-800 number for production status, my car has completed production and is at the port waiting for a shipping vessel. Now the not-so-good news. When I ordered the car, I specified Performance Center Delivery. At first, I was told that PCD was unavailable because the '15's are awaiting EPA/CARB certification, and a delivery date cannot be predicted. Now I am being told that the reason is not the government hold, but because the Performance Center is holding a multi-month new model rollout extravaganza, so no PCD's are being offered for the next few months. I couldn't find anything about it on the BMWUSA web site, and even Google turned up nothing. Anybody know anything about such an event? |

Why not call PCD and ask?

Thanks, Dackel.
I telephoned the Performance Center, and the rep I talked to said there was no such problem. I discussed my order, and he said the problem was that the salesperson did not request PCD at the time the order was submitted. A classic case of where the cover-up is worse than the crime. So much for Crevier customer service and honesty. Very disappointing for a dealer on BMW's top dealership list. |

"Multi-month new model rollout extravaganza"... I hope those were his exact words. That's hilarious. The words... not the situation.

Glad to hear you can take Performance Center Delivery. I really want to do that one day.

I'll leave it up to everyone here to determine if I overstated the situation. BTW, it was a "she." I have to keep reminding myself of what a friend once said to me: "You'll love the car, you just have to get past the a$$holes in sales." Last edited by JimM6GC; 05-14-2014 at 12:33 AM.. |

@JimM6GC you WILL Love the car!
Another option would be to go visit the PCD for one of their one day - driver days. I think you ave to pay a nominal fee of $200 and its a half day deal or driving. Not the full PCD experience, but pretty close. Would make for a nice road trip in your new ride.

JimM6GC,
Even after your car is delivered to you, you can do the PCD up to one year after your car is delivered. You dealer can send your info to the PCD folks and you will receive an email from them telling you that you have one year. You can go to Spartanburg and have your car redelivered to you or they will use one of their cars for delivery coverage with you. I did this, so I know it works. Your SA might have been confusing actually PCD delivery with just the plant tour part being closed. See email below. You can still do the PCD, but you will not get to tour the plant, due to new model production. Here is what my email looked like: Dear Mr. xxxxxx, This email entitles you and one guest to attend the BMW 101 Experience at the BMW Performance Center. Your certificate number is 999999999 and will expire on xxxxxxxxxx. You must schedule and attend the program before this expiration date. The BMW 101 Experience is an exciting opportunity for you to participate in the key elements of the BMW Performance Center by participating in a two hour driving session along with taking a tour of the BMW Manufacturing facility and Zentrum museum. Due to new model production, BMW Manufacturing will not offer public tours effective April 29, 2013. We expect public tours to resume early summer of 2014. If you attend on a date when the factory tour is not available, you will receive a certificate to schedule a factory tour at a later date, once they resume. A visit to the BMW Zentrum Museum will still be part of your experience. The program is designed for the owner and one guest; additional guests cannot be accommodated, no exceptions. The program includes a one-night/double occupancy stay at the Greenville Marriott the evening prior to your experience along with dinner & breakfast for two at the hotel. If needed, we can arrange for you to participate in a Vehicle Overview. The Vehicle Overview is a scheduled session where one of our BMW Product Specialists explains the features and functions of your BMW. The BMW 101 Experience is available Monday through Friday, starting at 8am and concluding by 3pm. The dress code is casual and comfortable. Please note that completely enclosed flat-soled shoes are required for the factory tour. All participants must sign a driving waiver and present a valid driver’s license to participate in the driving activities. Due to insurance and legal regulations, no one under the age of 12 will be allowed on the driving course or factory tour (childcare services are not available). To schedule an appointment to attend, simply reply to this email and provide the following information: |

@vahiker99 , your post thickens the plot. When I was first notified of the alleged unavailability of PCD, I was quoted the EPA/CARB reason found in post #4 of this thread. I came across that post when I researched whether others ever got the same message. The quote from my advisor contained the identical language, except the "Should the client wish to cancel ..." sentence and the identification of the source as the Performance Center were missing. She said the message came from the factory.
I thought it very strange that the cancellation sentence was missing, and what it all meant. Why would the Performance Center bring up the issue of cancellation if a reservation could not be made in the first place? What was being cancelled in that post? I pressed the advisor on the issue, and then she sent me the same quote, but this time she added the single paragraph in your post about factory tours not being available. She cc'd the sales manager and alleged that the new quote was what she sent to me originally. However, I kept all emails and was able to prove her wrong. Furthermore, the added paragraph was a non sequitur. What does cancellation of the factory tour have to do with PCD? The paragraph clearly envisions PCD without the tour, with a certificate being provided to take the tour at a later date. That's what I like about having done everything in writing. Eventually the BS started tripping over itself, and she couldn't get out of it. I had a spirited talk with the sales manager yesterday. Needless to say, I demanded a different advisor. He said another one would contact me today, but nobody called or emailed. He also said he may be able to work out PCD after all. We'll see. I can't say I like paying $130k+ for this kind of sales experience. Last edited by JimM6GC; 05-16-2014 at 01:28 AM.. |

PCD is fun. I was told my e63 was the first gen 2 6 Coupe delivered at the Center.

Thought I would post an update.
Visited Crevier to finalize the sale over the weekend. I am now the owner of a '15 M6 GC. I even have the temporary registration to apply to the car. All I have to do now IS PICK UP THE CAR AT THE PERFORMANCE CENTER NEXT WEEK!!! Got my reservation for PCD, and my wife and I will be flying out next Tuesday. I am hoping adrenaline during the practice sessions on the track will overcome the jet lag. Crevier must have had to pull some strings to get that done after the original debacle, especially since, as noted in my previous post above, the PC rep said that PCD's were booked well into the summer. I can only hope that they take corrective action within their sales force so that another customer does not have to go through what I did. |
