So why is it that Porsche can build AWD vehicles with great steering feel and precision, but nobody else can? What are they doing that others aren't? Why is it so hard?

Why is it that porsche switched to electric steering but it's still better than everyone else's (but they're own) hydraulic steering? It's the same as above. They simply over engineer what they build and think things through. |

Let's throw in a hopped up S4 motor and lower it a bit. Boom, it's an S model now. Need someone to fine tune the driving characteristics. I think I need to drive a Cayenne to get a baseline. |

Since the whole thing is owned by VWAG you know notes are being exchanged in between brands. I've spent some quality time in a V-8 Touareg (1st Gen) and its counter part Cayenne back when they 1st came out. I did not think P version was that much better. Yes, it handled slightly better but not to justify the cost difference between two cars at all. May be things are different now.

Is the range rover evoque the same size as these?
I'm looking for a second car, def need an SUV. Looking to spend about 50k 60 on the high end, 50 would be nicer. |

Macan Base: $42k USD Macan S: $54k USD Macan Turbo: $66k USD Cayenne Base: $49k Cayenne S: $66k Cayenne Turbo: $110k I am thinking the Turbo is going to be a lot more than that though. I am thinking Cayenne GTS money. No word on X4 pricing, but expect look at the difference between the X5 and X6, then add that to the base price of an X3, and that should be a good estimate for the X4. |

X1 M Sport with the N55 engine. I have the 28i version and it's a hoot, the 35i version would be a laugh. M Sport is a very well judged compromise for the street.

Macan looks interesting. I can't stand any suv's larger than this class, I just don't like to drive such a large vehicle. SQ5 is a nice ride, test drove one not too long ago. As far as suv's go, it is the one I would buy now. But the Macan S and Turbo do look very promising. Also the X4M, if indeed it gets produced.

Yeah, I guess we all should have known better than to expect a budget "Turbo" model. However, the "S" is $2k under estimates.
Quote:
Macan S base price is only $100 more than the SQ5 Premium Plus (base model SQ5). I test drove an SQ5 the other day. It is very uninspired in the curves. Read that the US model is 30mm higher (on regular Q5-height springs) than the Euro Version to skirt around US Emissions (classified as a small truck). So considering that it is the same chassis, with as good as or better motor (remember this is most likely the 3.0TT V6 found in the Panamera S (probably detuned)), better transmission and more than likely handle better as well. I am going to budget for a Macan S with upgrades not to top the price of a fully loaded SQ5 Prestige, so around ~$72k. Will probably narrow it down to PCM (Navigation), PASM (air suspension is a maybe), Sport Seats are a Maybe, PDC w/Camera, some interior niceties, definitely not getting their crappy looking wheels (Cayenne and Cayenne S have horrible looking standard wheels) and maybe upgraded stereo. I know you can go crazy with all of the options. Oh, and the X4M might not be happening per the BMW Product Manager... http://www.caradvice.com.au/253033/bmw-x4-m-likely/ |
