Forum Appraisal: 1980 CJ-7 ;)
I'm in the market for an older jeep. I'm heading down to look at this one this weekend. That being said, prices for CJs (And all Jeeps, really) are all flipping over the place!
This is listed for $7950, and was restored in 2005. Total miles are unknown, but it has 4k on it since the restoration. It has new wiring/electronics, gauges and dash, rebuilt tranny, new interior, new wheels and tires, and various upgrades. With the exception of the starter, carburetor, and a few other things, it still has the 258 engine that to my knowledge has not been rebuilt/replaced. The tub is line-x'd. Any experts out there? I know I'll be searching for rust first thing. I've also done some research on engine rebuilds and swaps in case I have issues down the road. Doors and a soft-top are also on the list of things I'd eventually need, so would factor in to my offer. Heading to see it Saturday, so all advice is welcomed! Thanks

Assuming you have driven the old CJ's? Line-X can hide damage and rust. See if they have any pre-line-x photos. Looks like a clean Jeep.

I haven't driven a CJ yet, actually. I've ridden in them, but that doesn't mean much.
These are the only before/after pics I've seen: http://www.selectjeeps.com/detail-cu...%20Jeep%20CJ-7 the resto was done by a local company that specializes in jeeps, but is for sale by its new owner. Yes, the interior is dated

Jeeps with the leaf spring suspension are very unforgiving in the ride department. If you plan to off-road it make sure your budget allows for suspension upgrades.
