Technology is good but disconnects driver from the car...the very essence of BMW is driver/car connection...unfortunately we see more and more of this disconnect with electric steerings etc etc...it's sad but cutting edge. There needs to be a balance...

It's like eating cake with a fork or a spoon, at the end of the day, you're still eating cake.
I really feel like it's 100 percent personal preference. Both have their adv/disadv. I had DCT on my iS before my m3. I didn't really care whether my m3 was 6mt or DCT. Either way, it's a hell of a car. Plus, it's the driver, not the car, that makes the difference between the two. I just think you should ask yourself why YOU want a DCT or 6mt, not care what other people's opinions are. It's your car for you to enjoy! you'll love either

Damn, I just ordered my new 5 last Friday. I thought I got all the fancy options and now I see this!
It must be one of those individual options they don't tell you about. Perhaps a Priority 2 option. It does look like you lose some trunk space though. |

This would be pretty nice for the drive between LA and SF on the 5. The only thing is you're pretty much guaranteed to fall asleep if the car is driving for you over a long distance.
