2002 525i E39 Transmission Issue? Can't Figure it out
Ok so here goes my cars story up until now . So my car was running great with no issues at all until about a week ago it started to rain real heavy where I live and was driving on the freeway and took one of the exits and didn’t see that the exit had flooded with about 2 1/2 feet of water. I hit it probably going about 60 and made it through, but the car died out and lost power by the time I got through it .I got it towed right up the road and after two days it would crank over and finally I just put it in neutral slammed on the pedal and cranked it over until it started. I had made sure that it didn’t hydro lock and that there was no water that got in the engine thru the air filters which was a great sign and then It finally started, but it was in transmission failsafe program and was stuck in 4th gear. I ran OBD two codes and it was code P0715 and p1732 at that point I didn’t drive it much longer maybe a couple hours around town not too far at all before I parked it where I could work on it to and then started to check it out and try to get it out of failsafe program . So I parked it and I looked up some videos and I figured I’d try taking off my range sensor on the side of the transmission and cleaning it well I did that and reinstalled it and then when I went to go crank my car over it wouldn’t crank at all or even click and all my gears on the dash showed all of them, PRND and wouldn’t show me what gear I was shifting into my shifter would move into different gears, but it wouldn’t show me what gear I was in on the dash and it hasn’t cranked over since and the only gear that will show up when I shift my shifter is when I shift it all the way down and then the “s” sport mode will show up on my dash cluster but still no crank no start not even a click and yes codes p0715 and p01732 are still showing confirmed . I’ve ordered a new turbine speed sensor for my transmission and a new transmission filter and fluid and I’m gonna get that all replaced and hope that’s the problem. And the whole no crank no start thing started after I literally unplugged the range sensor and unbolted it and bolted it right back on and plugged it right back in before I actually took it completely out and cleaned it . I’ve now reinstalled a brand new range sensor and same problem don’t know what gear I’m shifting to and no crank at all not even a click so anybody please possibly point me in the right direction or maybe completely help me pinpoint the problem?
