I dunno...it does just about the same as BMW's 3 Coupe in pics for me: nothing. I think it looks okay but will look a lot better with AMG kit and get rid of the chrome touches. I'm also not sure about it because it looks huge!
And just like the 3 Coupe, I think it'll look nicer in real-life and not so boring.

If that's an "E-Class Coupe" does that mean that there's no more "CLK"?

Yeah...that's also quite annoying. We're used to the CLK name.

just like 3 coupe... just 10k more expensive for no reason
i really am not a bimmer fanboy, but i assume this thing is gonna have the 3.5 liter V6 putting out 268hp, yet cost 50+, while the 335 at 40k has 300hp and a better suspension. Benz needs to raise their game if they want to challenge BMW, they remind me to much of Chrysler... still!

Pretty nice looking, I agree with HKS...I wanna see it after AMG gets done with it.

What were you hoping for, a Mini cooper???? And I agree on the chrome, but its a Merc; they all have chrome. Its expected. Furthermore, this car looks very nice and these are just pics. I'm sure in person it will have a lot of presence. The tailights are going to be badass when lit at night! I'm suprised to see 4 bucket seats instead of a bench in the backseat. The AMG is going to be a BEAST!! |

This is actually more like the CE class that Mercs use to have.
CLK was too ambiguous anyways.

elegant, unfortunately rear 3/4 shot looks like an Accord coupe.

Wow I actually really like this design, and the taillights don't seem anywhere near as bad as I was expecting. And they gave it a proper rear bumper. The headlights look better, and it has the proper grille (like I wanted on the E sedan).
Ditch the chrome accents, throw on some AMG 5-spokers, and you've got yourself a very elegant yet aggressive sedan. Nice.

I also really like the way the rear arches are so prominent. That rear quarter crease really does the trick. It really looks good to me. I would much rather see it in a different color though.

I don't know what to make of that rear, both on this coupe and the sedan. It seems like it came out of nowhere (in terms of design lineage), and looks very close to a Sonata (more so on the sedan).

I think the people that buy a Benz or a Lexus don't care that much about looks. The E-Class isn't made for the young sporty loving type, but the upper-middle class. Oh and why is it so hard for them to design a normal steering wheel?

The only weak design element are the wing mirrors... this car needs more aggressive wing mirrors. I think we have a winner. Slap on some 19" thin 5-spokes and we have near perfection
