Have you ever had the opportunity to hit 200 mph in a car driven by your self, or been a passenger during that insane run. What did it feel like, and what kind of car were you driving?
Someone flew by me at a very high rate of speed last night and it got me thinking.

The closest that I got was 175 on a closed airport runway in a Vette.

Why are you driving slow in the left lane

Fastest I've gone was 155 in my E39 M5 on I-84 between Taconic State Parkway and Route 9. Stupid and scary.

Max I've hit was 150mph, but I have seen a M5 fly by me at probably somewhere near 200mph.

I want to try at a you wanna go fast event but I'm worried I'll run out of gear or runway before I get there. Current top is 155.

Probably some of our Autobahn friends have had the chance but it's very dangerous if your doing it in a car with tyres not rated for that speed!

If you want to know what it feels and sounds like, try the top speed of a Fiesta or similar (jk). As I recall my two times going 200kmph that's what it felt like. Depends on the car. I was on the highway on an Alfa 156. At that speed I experienced tunnel vision and it scared me a bit. Not as scared as possibly blowing the engine though.

186--2005 zx-10r......it feels surreal going that fast on a motorcycle..almost dreamlike.
Been close to 600mph in jumbo jet....but that's not too special after the take off.

I wish i knew. I did a Porsche event once on a track and when i was done the USB they gave me with my track data was empty. I was so pumped the whole way home to post the video because it was my first track event... what a bummer that was.

it was no were close to 200 but i was definitely fast on the strait.

I was going to bring a car to the El Mirage dry lake bed once but then I started obsessing about how much dirt would get on and in my car.

They open up an airfield and let you do passes all day. 1/2 mile runs. Really probably need a mile to get there but I'll try.

185 back when I had the ZX10. The ER6N-R I think tops out at 135.

Top speed on a bike is about 160mph on my old R6 at NJMP and in a car is 150mph in my old GTI completely wound out in 6th gear hitting 7k redline.

In my dad's Duster I hit 165mph in the 1/4 mile

200MPH would be a stretch, but I should have no problem legally hitting 160MPH. I may or may not have already gone 155MPH a few times in Mexico...

I've never attended this event, but I hear it's awesome so I'll be spectating this year. My buddy has a GT-R that he ran last year and his fastest time was 184 mph!

Maxed out my 633 CSi on the Autobahn. Probably around 140 or so. Maybe a tad more.

I got passed by an F430 doing a lot more than the 155 I was going on the Autobahn. Sounded glorious. I rented a Boxster S just to pass the 155 crowd, showed an indicated 180 mph, but suspect it was no more than 165, judging by passing speeds.

Closed road years back, buried the needle at over 180mph in my T88 Supra MKIV. I shut it down once the targa top started rattling a bit. No idea how fast I was really going or if the speed was accurate, but I had it buried at the 180mph max for a good 4-5 seconds and the car felt like it was still climbing. Man that car was a beast.

My First instance of ~200 mph was back in 07, I was 21

My best friend, 24 at the time, bough a brand new 997 Carrera S. As the insurance cost were crazy high for him, around 6k/year , he was forced to insure and reg the car under his mother and get a boomerang ( tag / gps tracking device)

After about ~1500kms of break in and 3-4 days playing nice we said lets c what this car can do.



So we drove from his house in Canada all the way to Mexico , a few blocks away to a nice stretch of highway, on a Tuesday morning ~ 3am.

We pretty much hit 316km/h as per the cluster and we were like , damn thats fast

So we went all the way back to Canada to have some beers and play Call of duty in celebration.

AS soon as we get back to his igloo, around 330am, his mother comes running as soon as we step in the house.

Mother : Where did you ass hats go ?
Us: Just around for a drive
Mother: What kind of a drive at 3 am?
Us: Scenic stuffs
Mother: Well the Boomerang guys just called me asking if my car was just stolen... as it was driving away at 320km/h !,
Us:
Mother: they also said that if I ever drive over 300 again they would call the cops and cancel my insurance.
Us: We sorry


So I pretty much lost at call of duty that night as my buddy keeps watching screens but it was a great night, 300 kph was fast

After than I built an FD3S and topped it out ~280Km/h a few times a week in Mexico not far.

Also My Bike, in the avatar, 300kmh was a daily thing.
