Indeed.

The 'featureless' rifle is a much more effective weapon then a rifle with a bullet button.

Besides, we all know that criminals follow all laws except for those about their specific crime.

Sure does. I agree. It's good for fun or as a bear gun but not much else.

For comparison, a warm .500 S&W has muzzle energy similar (if not greater then) a 1oz slug from a 12g shotgun.

Also for comparison, a 12g shotgun's felt recoil is nicely cushioned by your shoulder (and perhaps a further pad) while the .500 has only the meat of your hands to absorb the energy before it transfers to your arms....

Not to mention the weight of the firearm itself, and perhaps the semiautomatic action cycling (unless its a pump etc)

Has anyone on here been to the Sportsman gun range in Grapevine, TX, or Frisco Gun Club? I took my grandkids there last month to shot off some 9mm rounds. We all had a blast!

That is a little ways away from me!

I think the babysitter mentality of the current generations is ridiculous My335iTT. There is absolutely no reason to not allow firearms everywhere. They are not any more offensive than pictures of cars (cause you know, people DO kill with cars as well).

My son has been to the Frisco thing...its fairly new isn't it ?
is it a club or some sort?
He usually goes to one in Plano, i venture not as nice
but convenient. When i thin the herd, it goes to Plano for him
to complete the transfer. Haven't heard any complaints about the
culled. He did say once "i'll need to get a bigger safe", and I said,
"do you want me to stop", . . . . . .it was quiet for a slight moment,
and I heard "I'll go to Cabelas, tomorrow"

Thats nonsens to compare the rate of death by cars to the amount of dead people who got shot and relate this to the allowed pictures. Into some certain spaces and areas it makes sense to forbid firearms and its also not the dumbest idea to deny the sell and the ccw to some humans who are not be able to differ between this. Just saying...

I'll hold off on your first point. The second point however, forbid firearms or even post pics anout them is:
1. Unconstitutional
2. Those areas are the one's law abiding citizens need them the most. Criminals dont follow the laws. Repeat felons cause 90% of the gun crime. Maybe the would think twice or maybe helpless victims wouldnt be helpless if they had tgem. Ccw permits are only issued to trained clean criminal record citizens. This group is the lowest measurable gin crime group of any segment of the population. Lower even than police.

Want to make laws that stop gun crime? Add stiffer manditory penalties to those who commit gun crime, so they can't do it 5, y, 7+ times like they currently do in places like Chicago and New Orleans instead of worrying about a picture of a piece of metal. With you posting to at 5 in the morning I wonder if you are even in the USA or a country that allows you to own firearms.

So because you suspect the death rate is not as high we shouldnt apply you logic to other materials that are instrumental in deaths? So we should ignore heroine or vehicular homocide because, hey guns do more damage? It's your logic that's flawed. You want to forbid things in certain high profile areas? Ok so no more cell phones allowed in vehicles on highways, or no more cell phones outside of the home and no more alcohol in higher populated areas, since clearly cell phones, alcohol and vehicles have killed people too and clearly is a dangerous material that you all might abuse. You must turn on the news and often see a story about person A was walking down the street and got into an altercation and shot person B. And that person A had a registered firearm and a permit and had no criminal history right? Makes me wonder how people buy cocaine cuz clearly that's illegal.

My SCAR 17 and AR after being raped by the CA DOJ

These still have their bullet buttons, I had to order a new spring for the SCAR, the bullet button spring is shorter then the spring used on the normal ambi mag release.

With the AR I am going to have to modify my bullet button wrench to get it out, I bought this rifle as a CA compliant rifle and they must have a different tool that makes it more difficult to change the mag release.

The changes are:
-non-adjustable stock, i put a new fixed stock on the AR, I don't like it, the length of pull is short. And just put a lego behind the button on the scar.
-Change out the 'flash hider' for a muzzle brake
-sharkfin on the grip so you can't wrap your thumb around it
-ambi safety on the AR (Standard on the SCAR) for convenience

In addition to the longer spring, I have also ordered a new longer and angled charging handle for the SCAR so I can swap it back to the other (non-ejection port) side so I can manipulate it with my 'weak' hand without bloodying my knuckles on the scope base.

I am considering a new stock on the SCAR, something with a QD would be nice.

I'm not sure I follow the first point - were you suggesting pictures should not be allowed? Or just that the two data points are not comparable?

I do tend to agree with your second point though - there are some extremely dumb humans out there who have no business carrying because I think they are dumb enough to use it, which means they go to jail, which means the taxpayers pay to support them, which doesn't seem fair to taxpayers. But given it is covered under the Second Amendment, not much you can do about these humans.

Plus, I think there are certain places where firearms can be prohibited - the White House for one example. No need for a firearm there by Joe Public.

On the flip side, I also understand the argument that an armed person is better able to protect him / herself against a criminal. I think the problem I would have is always second guessing myself in that circumstance as to whether I legally COULD shoot that person (if I were American) and that hesitation might be fatal to someone else or me. But certainly I agree with the point that criminals do not follow laws, therefore, outlawing guns will not prevent them from using them. So there is no point in outlawing guns.

While I enjoy using firearms, I struggle daily with whether I'd prefer to be allowed to carry up here, or keep existing laws. I really don't know which is better. Certainly when I'm out in the woods I'd feel more comfortable carrying for wildlife, but I've never had a situation where I felt uncomfortable in public or in any danger. Plus, even if I could carry, would I? I would imagine it is not always comfortable.

Anyways, I think people think you are a proponent of outlawing firearms, but I don't know that you are really saying that. And aren't you the one that asked about the possibility of getting a firearm for a few weeks while on vacation in USA and then selling it? And that you are reasonably proficient in their use?
