MAX : Yeah it was spicy racing , the McLaren's got DRS on the straight while I got serious clipping .
I got clipping because I ran out of battery power and the McLaren still had some juice in the battery because they ran with DRS .

As I said : MAX vs the McLaren DRS !

That's a LONG list

By and large agree with your thinking, however, let's break this down into the realistic picture RB are in;

Lec - this guy makes a lot of mistakes and not at all available (I think he's a Ferrari driver to the end of his time in F1)
Sai - guy is pretty consistent (though results lately have not been anything I'd call eye opening) but likely thinks far too much of himself which is why no top team went for him. Also he was humiliated by Max when Max had absolutely no experience. What they've done since is telling.
Rus - makes a lot of mistakes and overconfident and not available
Ham - I am not sure he'd actually take a contract from RB but I think he would struggle with the current RB given he cant even beat Rus who is average
Nor - he makes a lot of mistakes and simply said he was too scared to race head to head with Max
Pia - I've said before, and you could see today, when Nor doesnt have team orders, Pia has better lines and is the faster driver which likely frustrates Nor because he cannot drive like that (similar to how Per can't and most can't drive like Max)
Alo - I think he is simply getting too old - he's been outperformed by Str the last few races which is odd to me. Maybe he is no longer motivated

Gas - already got destroyed by Max
Alb - already got destroyed by Max
Tsu - best bet because he is quick and underrated
Law - solid bet given what he did last year in the AT
Bea and Ant - these guys for all the hype are not even competitive in F2. Not sure they'll be as good as the hype. Guys like Max only come around very infrequently and I doubt you have 2 more now and both of these guys are tied up.

So all in all, very few drivers there that you could offer a contract to or that would take a contract, all things considered.

Totally understandable - but let's also see how Per does the rest of the season. I actually think not winning the WCC might be a blessing for them with more testing and CFD time to solidify a WDC in 2025.

It's about pride and prestige. Let there be no doubt: RBR wants the WDC and WCC titles. And especially the big bag of WCC title money.

Whether Perez is a *great* or *good* driver, is debatable. But, based on results, he seems to struggle more in adapting to the RB20 car dynamics than Verstappen.

Look also at what happened to Ricciardo after he left RBR for McLaren: he kept struggling with the McLaren car.

I do wonder though, if RB's outlook was that even if they lose the WCC, the money Per brings in is probably worth multiples of what first place is worth - so you win the WDC, come in second in the WCC yet from a monetary standpoint you're still better off than you would be without Per sales/sponsorships, and you earn yourself a nice chunk more testing time to win the WDC for 2025 and also hopefully the WCC again.

Piastri is a super talent.

Ricciardo ain't. He's halftime race driver, halftime show man. Leave him at where he's good at: getting 'oohs & aahs' from public when doing donuts and giving selfie smiles at Red Bull promo events.

Still baffling how Alpine screwed up big time by delaying to remit the final draft of Piastri's Alpine contract, despite Mark Webber's reminders (Piastri's management). Alonso and Ocon were 'blocking' a seat for Piastri - 'reserve driver' for yet another F1 season (2023) was no attractive prospect. Webber and Piastri got fed up and McLaren reacted lightning fast when they realized that they got a very brief window of opportunity during the 2022 summer. Alpine disputing the sudden move was to no avail - Piastri could race for McLaren in 2023 (replacing an underperforming Ricciardo). Alonso left Alpine and 'El Plan' for Aston Martin and a big bag of money. Piastri didn't want the Alpine seat vacated by Alonso no more - he had a McLaren seat in the meantime.

Piastri is no doubt a super talent but he should be giving more competition to Lando Norris at McLaren. At the moment, Norris looks like the only driver in the grid to give Max a competition and it won't be a surprise if we see him win 1-2 more races this season but it looks unlikely that Piastri would win a race this season.
